Train your brain with BrainHQ from Posit Science—the most rigorous program available for better brain health, and the only one backed by more than 100 scientific papers showing benefits - including the breakthrough NIH-funded ACTIVE study. Now with new features that contribute to your brain fitness success!
BrainHQ represents the culmination of 30 years of research in neuroscience and brain health. Top scientists from around the world helped to develop and test the BrainHQ exercises. The result: a training system that comprehensively improves brain performance, from the most basic elements of perception through the most complex elements of memory, attention, and cognitive function.
No other brain fitness program can match BrainHQ in scientific proof. More than 100 publications from independent, randomized controlled trials have shown that the exercises and assessments in BrainHQ drive real change. These changes include:
• cognitive improvements, such as better memory and faster processing speed
• real-world improvements, including safer driving and improved quality of life
• physical brain changes, like healthier white matter and more coordinated neurons.
All of this means that BrainHQ works—in laboratory studies, and in the lives of everyday people:
•"BrainHQ is a no-brainer must-have in my book…This training has expanded my visual, fine-tuned my audio and even my reflexes seem to be getting faster. BrainHQ is fun and gives me the challenges I need to keep my brain working out on a daily basis." - C. MacDonald
•"Only a few months into the BrainHQ exercises the difference is clear, this isn’t left to speculation, I saw drastic improvements…and my family has noticed a strong improvement." - A. Amitrano
And leading publications agree: “Our testers concluded that Posit's product—one of the few so far to undergo clinical trials and peer-reviewed research—had the firmest scientific grounding.” - Wall Street Journal
The BrainHQ app helps you set and achieve your brain training goals—so it not only works, it works for you.
Each exercise adapts to your performance and gets more challenging as your performance improves, just like a personal trainer for your brain.
The training is designed to fit into your life: train for just 5 minutes in your spare time, or do a complete workout in an hour.

I’ve tried most of the leading brain training apps but this one really stands out for me. The tasks are well thought out and presented. The way that the difficulty level is constantly changed to match my performance seems to work well. There’s always a sufficient level of challenge without going beyond my level of competence for too long. That probably explains why I haven’t yet become bored or frustrated as I have with other apps.
Good, but can be better! Few things need tweaking - the website is more functional than the app

I’m a big fan of Dr Merzenich’s work and have been a user for a few years now.I like the app, but there are a few things that, in my mind make it inferior to using the website.1. Personal trainer - I can’t set my focus areas from the app (the only way to do it is from the website and you have to revert to the old website style to be able to do so). I would like to be given the option to change that freely anywhere on the platform.2. The focus areas set to the personal trainer on the website seem to not carry over to the app. I have set 25 minutes to be the limit of daily sessions on the website. So far, on the app, just the first exercise from the set has taken me 10 minutes. I can’t really justify spending more than 30 minutes a day on these exercises and would like maximise my time.3. New look and feel of the app - it looks nice and flashy, but again, when doing exercises (the personal trainer set), it takes time to watch the same exercise intro videos over and over again. I would like to be given the option to skip those and focus on the exercises. Same goes for the exercise instructions before each set.4. Going offline - I liked the option to download your daily set on the device and then not need WiFi for the exercises. The new app seems to download each exercise individually (correct me if I’m wrong) so it’s less practical than the old one when travelling.Screen size - does it matter? For some of the exercises, is it better to do them on a big screen ? If so, what’s the recommended screen size to get the maximum benefit? It would be good to get this info somewhere. I would really like to see this app improving and being an equal alternative to the website!

Thank you for providing us with excellent feedback. We are currently working on a new update to the BrainHQ app and will take your review into consideration. The BrainHQ apps for iOS and Android will never be completely independent of the BrainHQ website, but we agree that the training experience should be equivalent if not better on mobile devices and that training on both the website and app should be seamless. To directly answer your questions, recommended viewing distance is dependent on screen size. We recommend a viewing distance of approximately 1.5x the height of the screen in order to challenge your peripheral vision on visual exercises such as Double Decision or Hawk Eye.If you have further feedback or questions, never hesitate to contact us at support@brainhq.com.
Not sure about this App

For all of the neuroscience attached to this app there is something very unscientific. Surely at commencement of one of the exercises a base line should be established taking into account age and demographic? The absence of this means that there is no calibration of how you are actually developing relative to the population or indeed from your starting point. So this got me wondering about the quality of the science and whether I was wasting my time. Also, I found US accents difficult to understand and also the use of first names in some of the exercises, which I had never heard before but I presume to be Asian or Middle Eastern. I found it very hard to relate as a result.

The best I’ve tried!
~JBW~
I have tried several different brain training apps over the years and I feel like this one is the best. It really feels like my brain is being challenged, and I can see real world improvements. I’ve even recommended it to other people, which I don’t normally do with apps!
Added enhanced support for research studies and added technical enhancements.
