We spent Christmas & New Year in Disney (& Universal). Busiest time of the year, & apart from a few wifi issues, we found this app invaluable. We had booked FP’s at home in UK beforehand, as well as dining so we managed to get on most of the attractions (no FPs for Flight of Passage nor Slinky Dog). When we got to MK on Christmas Day, the park unsurprisingly was absolutely packed. We used Mobile ordering for lunch at Peco’s Bills, brilliant! No queue, we got a message to say the order was ready & picked it up straight away. We stayed a couple of nights at Pop Century, we tried the app to open hotel room door & it worked. We refreshed the app to change FPs & to cancel which gave us an option to get another one. By clicking on the hour FPs options we found more choice when changing times. We used the App to get our Boarding Group for Rise of the Resistance 😱despite some stressful moments making sure we had wifi. And photos came through most of the time, although we did have someone else’s on one ride 😂 When you compare Universal’s app & the technology (or lack of it), Disney have surpassed themselves & we were extremely impressed. Dining information & reservations were easy, maps & shopping info excellent. For us relying on WiFi was at times a bit hit and miss as we couldn’t use data, but despite the busiest time of the year, we did what we wanted to do & I think this app is one of the best I have ever used. Sadly the days of spontaneous visits have gone, & you have to be organised, but if you use the app wisely you can make choices and changes easily. A big fat hit with my family! We just want to go back! 😭
No longer the most magical place on earth!

After coming to Disney for 28 years and now with my 1year old grandson, we have been severely disappointed with our trip. The baby swap system for queuing at Disney was a horrible experience and made the day very unpleasant for the whole group. The days were spent taking it in turns to be apart from each other and trying to find shade in a very busy park with baby, whilst the others went on the ride. Joining the lightening lane for baby swap does not work, as the 2nd group often still have to queue a significant length of time. After visiting Universal Studios (which cost me considerably less), we found this to be a much better experience. This is because the whole group were included together - the baby was allowed to stay with us and then had an allocated air conditioned family room right by the entrance of the ride. This made the swap seamless and also felt like my grandson was prioritised by having room to play and cool down. We all felt treated with respect at Universal, rather than us feeling like an inconvenience at Disney. The staff at Disney were considerably ruder than every other year we have been over the decades, and we all felt like the magic has now been lost.
So bad

I seriously wonder if the new systems were genuinely thought through and tested at all. But knowing that the app first launched with lorum ipsum text still in places i doubt that there were user tests or qa‘s conducted. As for my experience well… you got to really be on your phone first thing when park opens, i tried to book some lightening lanes and genie + just to be presented with some location error (though location was on) about having to be in canada or the us. The other error didnt give me much of a indication as to why i cant book anything else. To wait for these to be sorted meant that all the rides were filled up meaning you have to hang around and wait until later in the day… great. One of our party members thought it would be good to put us in a virtual que for a new ride (guardians). While we were in the que we couldn’t book anything else? Though the que only started enrolling at 1pm and it was park open ? So we decided to do something else. When i took me and my partner (checkboxes) out of the que i returned home later in the evening to find out that for whatever reason the whole group was removed so they got there just to find out they were not in the que anymore. I can literally go on forever, its been for most of it a ridiculous experience. Though one good thing is mobile food order its working alright as far as the app goes- booking restaurants over the app though has not yet worked for us at all so minus for that again.
A real review

I’m not one to write a review but I felt the need to, I come back from Disney Florida yesterday and before going my holiday I downloaded this app and read the reviews and see many one star ones and bad comments so I was very doubtful. However, after using the app 2 weeks straight. I cannot complain, it’s very useful, you can use it for so many things, key to your room if you stay at a Disney resort if you have a band. The app works fantastic, I think twice I had to close the app fully because it froze and that was twice during my 2 weeks. I read a review about one complaining about the WiFi at the parks. Almost everywhere at the parks the WiFi works perfect, never have an issue, myself or my partner. Coming off rides and you have a magic band you instantly get the photos directly onto the app which you can then save to your phone. Great feature that gives you directing to any rides, the wait times were always longer than the times you actually waited. The app has awesome features, such as, you can apply a phone number to your kids magic band. I see a family lose their child and the park staff scanned the kids band and brought up the parents number to call them. Definitely recommend this app if you go to Disney.
We’ve made general app improvements to help you discover more magic around Walt Disney World Resort.
