Absolutely LOVE vinted. As someone who used other second hand selling apps for years and came across many problems, Vinted is absolutely perfect in every way. The app makes money through buyer fees, not seller fees, which makes a lot more sense to me than retracting money from the seller, and it also makes money with ‘bumps’ which you spend 95p on to bump your item to the top. The transactions are smooth and brilliant, I haven’t come across a single bad thing at all.The app also leaves no room for scams - the seller has to have postage proof before any money is taken from the buyer, so vinted holds the money until it’s been marked as sent and received. You can still receive your money a few weeks after it’s been sent if the buyer never marks it as received. Which I find great as I have tried to buy from sellers on other apps before and never had the item sent to me and it was a really long process getting a refund. The only issue I once had was that someone bought something and I was away from home and couldn’t post it, without knowing there was a 5 day timespan to post it, and the buyer was refunded. But now I know that for future, AND the app gives you an option to pause your account when you go on holiday etc, I can safely say it’s a mistake I won’t make again.Overall it’s just great and is super quick and easy. I have made over £200 in the past four months just selling bits and pieces of my things that were too nice to give to charity. It’s quick and smooth and easy and overall very easy to understand and use.
Really good concept!

The concept behind Vinted is really unique and works well most of the time, it relies on both the buyer and the seller updating the app in various stages in terms of updating the dispatch of the sold item and the buyer confirming when the item arrives with them. There are a few different courier types that are automatically assigned when selling, which include Hermes and Royal Mail. All of which have QR codes on the pre paid postage labels which when scanned at the destination update the app as to when the sold item has been dispatched and arrived. Meanwhile any money paid to the seller for the item is kept in holding as a pending balance until the buyer receives the item and confirms everything is ok, which can cause some problems when dealing with inactive or argumentative buyers. Then the money is released to the seller and they can transfer it to their own personal bank account. The app has a great platform to sell items to make money and relying all stages of the buying and selling process are checked off it can work really well. I have had an item lost by couriers and also returned by a courier before allowing the customer the 10 days allocated collection time which can cause problems, and as much as Vinted is safe and offers the checklist format to ensure both buyer and seller are protected it does rely on multiple party’s to ensure the process is successful which can go wrong.

Works well most of the time!

I have used this app for nearly 2 years and it works well when all goes well. But… there are issues that can occur with Vinted that don’t always work out in your favour. For example I have listed a few household items that don’t necessarily fit into one of Vinted’s brackets so I have had to upload them in a category that is similar. Vinted then delete the item and say it’s against the rules, when other people sell the same items and manage to keep there items listed. I’m not talking about anything dodgy. One example I had was a Pyrex dish! Also, if you sell household items such as plates they make you choose a delivery option based on weight and the lowest is 5kg. So if someone wants to buy a small dish, the minimum delivery they would pay can be £4+. Obviously that puts buyers off if you’re selling a dish for £1! And if a parcel is damaged in transit you can sometimes be the person to lose that sale as most people don’t want to return a broken item if they have to pay for the return delivery. That means you have to refund them yourself and lose the sale money. When every sale has a protection fee applied I think Vinted should be refunding damaged parcels, not the seller! Generally the app is good and the concept is great. You can sell clothes easily and buying clothes or soft items comes with much less risk of damage in transit. I like that it makes buying second hand easier, and less waste is produced.
Good concept but….

….few things would be nice to make better. Notifications- too many content so often not even enough time to read as they disappear from my screen. Notifications should be short and short glance should give you straight away info what event occurred. Other thing - all notifications, doesn’t matter if item sold, item added to favourites etc etc generating exactly the same sound. Why??? Would be good if for example “item sold” sound could be different - so you don’t even need to take phone to your hand to know something was sold from my items. Like on ebay. Other stuff. Why all items sold and bought ate in the same place?? It should be separate so you can tracing easily items posted to you and the one you sent to customers. Now everything is mixed up. Another thing. When having money on my vinted account from sold items and buying something this money are consumed first then difference going from my card - would be nice to being able to decide if I wanna use money from vinted account or pay in full by card/apple pay. Another thing - all notifications, messages coming with massive delay. Is hard to keep up what’s what. Or accidentally I hidden item then unhidden and item is still shown as hidden… Like your system not keeping up with user commands. And many many other small things which making app not very user friendly.
We’ve improved performance and fixed bugs to make selling and scoring second-hand easier than ever.
