I used this app for French which im pretty much fluent at now and using now for Spanish… there are loads of platforms to exchange with real natives of whatever countries language you are learning which if of course is super important but this for me is perfect to use to build your confidence up before doing that! With this you are under no pressure snd can also practice with the AI interaction options whenever you want and don’t have to wait for other people to be available to message or talk! It’s really well made and runs smooth with no annoying glitches or adverts!

Great idea, you’ll need a basic grounding in grammar and vocabulary and have tried to speak a little of the language, before even daring to try this app, however, unless you want to be scratching your eyes out. The level is way higher than beginners. Support (by email) will tell you ‘it’s immersive’ and ‘you can slow down the speaker’ (distorting it into darlek speak so no easier) and the AI feedback will help. Trust me, that is one brutal teacher. The feedback makes me laugh or cry, depending on my mood. I consider myself a woeful beginner in speech but am not too bad at reading and (slowly) writing Slovak. I also speak two other languages fluently so my brain knows how to learn a language. I wanted to practise my spoken Slovak as, largely, I have the curse of English being my mother tongue so cannot get Slovaks to speak Slovak with me - they just want to practise their English with me, even in Slovakia, but when their English is so much better than your Slovak, it’s hard to put your foot down. So despite putting my level as beginner, I am not a total beginner, but trust me, this app is way beyond what I can even begin with. Imagine being asked to debate whether ‘there will ever be peace in the world’ in your very first language lesson at school, and with the harshest of teachers marking it. That is this app.

(Learning Nepali) The chatbot to practice phone calls is really good. I only wish the calls could be stored (optionally) so you could listen back and track your progress. Or just so the AI bot can build on your previous conversations. As someone whose primary goal is to brush up on and practice and maintain conversational nepali, I wish they offered romanised nepali (written in english script) as an option too. I write and read super slow in nepali and all the feedback from the chatbot call is written in nepali script. Would also love if they offered a conversational chatAI bot that wasn't so formal so I could practice a more conversational and practical way of speaking with slang. The language the chatbot uses for Nepali is very very formal (like it's giving that you're speaking with a politician that only uses fancy over the top words and language). But overall really good practice for brushing up as well.

This is great and has so much potential But... it needs some improvements 1. A facility to report when something isn't correct. I've seen errors that are illogical (speech reported as "wrong" for not being capitalised??) but more crucially, corrections that are not correct grammatically. Russian has animate and inanimate accusative and the bot got it wrong for my sentence... that's bad. 2. The usual (but entire star losing) fault of language tech: a refusal to acknowledge women as a concept. Every sentence is presumed to be a male speaker, even though the ai voice is often female. It's incorrect and misleading. At least flag it, preferably allow the choice or vary it 50/50 with the correct voice. Update: when I used a female form talking to a female bot I got "corrected" to insist I only use the male form. Not good enough. 3. Sometimes it crashes out in the middle of an activity which loses flow All of these for a paid app are problematic but if resolved will still be a great resource imo.
