KYC cannot be completed because the option to upload visas disappears - although they miraculously add money to your wallet which apparently cannot be used. Useless really.Update: Sorted. The app can now be used (and it works perfectly commercially; no transfers to individuals) but I was aghast at the funds transfer fee charged. Too high - 12% -13% or so! Of course your bank will charge you conversion fees too. And on top of that, you are penalised by Mony on a monthly basis for not using the app if you have left India - they justify it as “maintenance” fees. Really?! Great concept but they need to tamp down asap on unacceptable costs to user to make it the challenger it has the potential to be.

This is the most straight forward app for getting UPI. The digital checks instead of in person really help and mean you are up and ready as soon as you land. There is a premium for the prepay services, for my £100 initial top up, around £12 was taken in processing and conversion fees. So could be better but other apps also have similar charges.Topping up and paying have been smooth except where I can't get a signal, where it has taken a few minutes more, but no real bother. I would use again next time.

I thought this looked a great app to use on a work visit, paying with foreign cards can be tricky and cash is impractical in India - paying with UPI is the norm. I verified my ID and visa, added $100 and went out to make a payment. The first payment was rejected twice and then the app blocked me making a third. I was charged for one of the failed payments by Mony, paid the restaurant in cash and submitted tickets with the failed payment receipt’s. Mony refused to refund the payment taken in error and I’m waiting for a refund back to my credit card after closing the account. It feels very poorly put together, like the platform is actually running on another providers system so they don’t have control of their product. I can easily see why some people have commented online this app is a scam.

The app has glitches all the time. This app is used for real time transacting in India. After you make the payment, the merchant is meant to get an instant notification, otherwise it is assumed the payment is not made yet and you still owe the merchant. We had this problem multiple times, we had to pay the merchants separately or by a friend, as sometimes the app shows as payment pending (so not successful real time). Once we kept a merchant waiting 1 hour at 2am in the night hoping the payments will go through, nothing. We found a means to pay them another way. Then the following day our funds have actually been taken from the app. The merchant was paid twice but he was long gone. Mony owes us a refund but they keep delaying us, this was over a month ago.
