4 months and a load of money wasted. Very addictive at the start. We all love to grow but after you reach level 30 it dies. In game expeditions (internal events) stop, leaving little to play for. Just farming huge amounts of rss for next upgrade, it’s become really boring. If you want to boost these big upgrades then it can take 100 days plus. Packs come along with maybe 3-4-5 days but at such a cost. Alliance chats die because guys take up other games because it becomes so dull and expensive. Better to get a mortgage on a house somewhere. Game makers have just made it a rip off. It’s a shame really as game graphics are one of the best I’ve enjoyed. Fighting in events is thrilling but such a cost to win events for such meagre rewards. I give this 2 star for the graphics only. The rest of the game gets nothing.I can’t offer any any improvements to game as the whales will always win but put back on the expeditions so we still have something to do while we WAITJd
So so disappointed

Well done to the developers. Sold your souls for a quick buck on the mobile format. Completely soulless cash grab. As many other hundreds have pointed out here and no doubt many thousands more fans wanted, all you had to do was make a refurbed version of the original game. Your response to other such comments has been that it presented difficulties to make such a game. Do not lie to your fans with utter nonsense. Look at what total war achieved with their games. Just admit it was purely a cash grabbing exercise to convert the game to a format which would make a lot of money from in app purchases, all while tarnishing the name of a classic game. It’s all very well calling the game merely “inspired” by the original AOE now, that didn’t stop you advertising for months using clips which made the game look like it would be a remake of the original in order to drum up excitement. I really hope this pitiful cash grab gets dumped quickly by the new players who have dipped into the series for the first time with this game who will soon be looking for the next fad pay to win game. Your disappointed core fans will now have now ditched you forever. As someone who grew up with the classic game, I’m now in my 30s and busy with work and family. I was so excited to have a version of this game in my pocket which I could fit into my life. Unbelievably disappointed.

Let me start by saying I was a huge, huge fan of Age of Empires I, II and III. Huge… I’d probably go as far as to say I talk about other PC games in terms of what the ratio of gameplay was in relation to time played on AoE (The AoE factor if you like). So that sets the tone for what follows. Now imagine you see an email to say that there is an AoE game which is new and available to iPhone users. Well you’d be pretty excited… Right up to that moment that you realise it isn’t actually AoE at all! I don’t get it. It happened to Scrabble too. It’s a great game, it has a huge fan base. It’s not asking for a revamp, but who cares about the end consumer, let’s just ruin it for the fans. And here we go again with AoE. Why change it? Why use the name to desecrate the game’s legendary and noble name? I’m going to take a punt and say there was no focus group here. No one is really going to say let’s have some more of that garbage we can already get on the market, that’d be just awesome! That doesn’t happen. Why is it so hard to take a classic game and simple format that is universally loved and totally trash it? It’s sacrilege. All the game needed was converting to an iPhone format and maybe a little modernising TLC. A one off cost of £10, £15, £20… I’d pay it dagnamit, but not for this. I’m not going to kill my commuter time playing this. Shame on you, I don’t know how you sleep at night…

Dear governor, Age of Empires Mobile incorporates many elements from Age of Empires and tries to recreate the classic gameplay. However, porting RTS game to mobile platform presents many challenges. It may not fully meet the expectations of players, but we hope to continue and innovate the Age of Empires IP. Thank you for your understanding.
I’d rather ‘immerse’ myself in the bath!

I’ve never played this on PC, and I’m totally lost trying to follow it. All the things that go in a game like this are there. I’ve played Evony, and loads of other similar games, so I feel I should be able to get into it. But I can’t. The feel I get from this is that it’s maybe a nice jigsaw, but the pieces as all upside down. Play it by tapping in endless boxes, but there’s just too much stuff. Immediately you’re invited to spend lots of money. Usual things - buy speed ups, buy packs, buy characters. How about letting us find our own way through the maze? Even making the base seems odd. Most games have a sort of template to build in. This has to be different, fit things in amongst trees, or whatever. So upgrading a building you first have to find it. It feels like an AI generated game, no soul, no human involvement. Chuck a load of ideas into a computer and see what it comes up with. Garbage in, garbage out comes to mind. Maybe I’m wrong in that, but has it actually been playtested by people who like playing games? Whatever, I am out, and I hope this isn’t a trend in games because it stinks.
