more It is so rare to find a health app of this calibre and quality that isn’t a subscription. Gym Book is feature-packed, easy to use, highly customisable and informative. On top of that, the support team were friendly and helpful when I reached out to them. Gym Book is everything I was looking for in a fitness app and more, which made accessing all of the premium features for such a low onetime fee a no brainer. Even the free version will add value to many people starting out on the fitness journey. One thing that I’d like to see added in the future is a catalogue of pre-made, template workouts that we can download and customise. It could also be great if we were able to share our workouts to a Gym Book cloud so that other users could download them for inspiration etc. To be clear, there are some workout examples provided by Gym Book, but the app is light in this regard. I believe having more ready-made, workout templates could potentially attract more users.Overall, I’m a massive fan of Gym Book. I’m enjoying it more with every use and I can’t recommend it highly enough. I look forward to its continued evolution and wish the developers all the success they deserve.

Using generic spreadsheets provided by an online program is all well and good however there’s always the weird exercise you either hate or don’t have the kit for. Once I’d gained some weight training experience, I wanted to create my own program based on ‘best’ exercises for muscle group growth, which meant a heat map would be ideal to ensure I was hitting all the major muscle groups, this app has this.I took the apps premium option which at under $10 was a bargain. Next it was down to the exercises, most but not all are in the app with form animations, those that aren’t can be added manually by including the target and secondary muscles. With the program designed it was onto the workouts, most of the icons in the app are multifunctional with press/hold revealing different features, at first this is frustrating but soon becomes a great way to navigate the app whilst keeping its appearance uncluttered. One great feature I want to highlight is the customisable rest period timer between sets, this is great for focusing on your rest without having to constantly watch check. As you can see the previous logs for each exercise when it comes to reviewing and adjusting for progressive overload, it’s really easy to make your periodic adjustments. My spreadsheet has been retired and this app is now my gym companion. Not 5 stars as the features could be better explained in an onboarding post

This is unbelievably good! I’ve used it for about a year and finally felt compelled to write a review as it’s just so incredible. Firstly - it’s a one and done fee, I’ve never been charged a penny more which feels so rare (if not virtually impossible) these days. Moving through the app during a workout is frictionless and fast. And the library of exercises is top tier. Super easy for any fitness level to follow. I was completely new to the gym and by your 2nd week it’s easy to feel the sense of reward seeing graphs with your progress. Only two suggestions are community packs (ie. It would be great to download workouts curated by others, not just mine) and slightly cleaner UI (it’s the best out there for gym tracking but still feels a little dated). Great work team!! Cannot recommend this app enough. It’s easily in the top 5 apps on my phone that I use weekly.
Developer Response Hi ScottRatedThisApp - Thank you for your amazing review! We’re so glad GymBook has made your gym journey easier and more rewarding.Your suggestions for community packs and a refreshed UI are noted, and we’ll keep them in mind for future updates. Thanks for your support - it means a lot to be in your top 5 apps! 💪

I really like this app for tracking my workouts. The design may be simple, but it’s a free app and especially compared to some of the tracking apps I’ve seen on here I can’t fault it at all.The selection of exercises is solid, plus there’s an option to create exercises yourself, including the option to highlight targeted muscle groups, add pictures etc. You also have the option to add notes to your sets which can be useful. I do, however, hope that over time the selection of exercises grows, as it takes a bit of time and planning ahead when you want to start and track a new routine and the exercises needed aren’t yet in the database. It would be nice if there was an option to track banded exercises as sometimes I train with bands, but you can only select the amount of weight used, and with my bands I have no idea what band color/strength amounts to which weight, but since I progress with my bands as well it would be cool to have an option to track that somehow. That would be the only flaw I can find for the moment. Overall I highly recommend this app.

Editing workouts and exercises within a workout has been slightly adjusted. In particular, editing exercises now features a redesigned, minimizable heat map sheet in a full-width view showing front and back simultaneously, with the ability to toggle between strength, cardio, and stretching. Comparing muscle distribution while building a workout is now easier. The heat map sheet also introduces a subtle Liquid Glass look that aligns with iOS 26.
In addition, heat maps in workout detail screens now support all exercise types and allow toggling between them. The small heat map thumbnails show the heat map of the exercise type that contributes most to the workout, and if it is not strength (for example, cardio or stretching), a corresponding icon is shown accordingly.
⎯ 7.0.26
Under-the-hood improvements and performance optimizations. Preparations for upcoming features and further enhancements.
⎯ 7.0.25
When opening line graphs from a screen with logs (for example via the 'History' tab), the end date is now dynamic, making it easier to review graphs where the most recent log is in the past.
A UI issue when changing the period has also been fixed.
⎯ 7.0.23
GymBook for Apple Watch now allows deleting logs from today.
Further performance and user interface improvements.

⎯ 7.0.27
