Gym Log+ is the fast, private workout tracker — logging lifting sets in seconds since 2013, now rebuilt from the ground up for modern iPhone and Apple Watch.
I built Gym Log+ in 2013 because I wanted a faster way to log my workouts. I rebuilt it in 2026 for the same reason.
ALREADY A GYM LOG+ USER?
Welcome back. Your data comes with you: on first launch, the app imports every workout, routine, custom exercise, body log, and progress photo you ever recorded. Nothing is deleted from the old data. And if you bought the app or its Pro upgrade — even years ago — your purchase is honored: you get Pro, for life, at no charge.
SWITCHING FROM ANOTHER APP?
Bring your history along. Gym Log+ imports other workout apps' CSV exports in about a minute, so your whole training record lives in one place.
LOG FAST
The whole app is built around one idea: nothing should slow down a set.
• Your previous workout's sets sit beside today's — see what to beat, tap Log, done
• Autofill suggests your next set; rest timers can start themselves
• Per-exercise rest timers, with a separate timer for your last set
• Supersets, warm-up sets, failure sets, drop sets, and optional RPE
• Cardio too: time, distance, and pace
• Warm-up calculator: a plate-rounded ramp up to today's working weight
• Plate calculator: exactly what to load on each side of the bar
APPLE WATCH — TRULY STANDALONE
Leave your phone in the locker. The watch app logs complete workouts on its own — routines, sets, rest timers — and records heart rate and Activity ring credit. Everything syncs up afterward.
ROUTINES, FOLDERS, PROGRAMS
• Build routines with target sets, reps, and rep ranges
• Organize routines into folders — or convert a folder into a program
• Programs know what's next: finish today's workout and the next day is queued up
• Plan catalog: 15 ready-made plans from beginner to advanced, free
• Share any routine or program as a file a friend can open in Gym Log+
CHARTS THAT ANSWER QUESTIONS
• A progress chart on every exercise: top set, estimated 1RM, volume, and reps — drag to scrub any day
• Stats dashboard: weekly training frequency, muscle-group volume this week vs last, and all your personal records — the last 3 months free, all-time with Pro
• Body-weight trend chart
BODY TRACKING
Log body weight free, with a trend chart, a goal line, and optional two-way Apple Health sync. Pro adds body measurements and progress photos with notes. Finished workouts can be saved to Apple Health too.
MULTIPLE PROFILES (PRO)
Share one device with a partner or family, or log clients' workouts in person as a trainer — each profile keeps its own routines, history, and body logs.
PRIVATE BY DESIGN
No account. Not "sign up later" — there is no account, no server, and no ads. Your data lives on your devices and syncs through your own private iCloud. And it stays yours: export a full backup file or a plain CSV spreadsheet any time, free.
FREE AND PRO
Free, forever: full workout logging, a catalog of 500+ exercises — strength, cardio, stretching, and yoga — plus your own custom exercises, the Apple Watch app, exercise progress charts, body-weight logging, the plan catalog, rest timers, the warm-up and plate calculators, the stats dashboard for the last 3 months, monthly recap cards to share, import, and export. The free tier includes up to 4 routines and 7 custom exercises.
Pro unlocks unlimited routines and custom exercises, body measurements and progress photos, multiple profiles, progression suggestions on the logging screen, side-by-side workout comparison, and the all-time stats dashboard with a year-in-review card: $4.99/month, $29.99/year with a 7-day free trial, or $79.99 once — lifetime, no subscription. Bought Gym Log+ before? Pro is already yours.

Edit: Had to just say how much I love the new feature that lets you see how long you have taken between sets. I have wanted this feature for a long time and no other app I have tried has done this yet. This app is awesome but I still can’t get over the whole workouts not feeling like they’ve ended problem I have with it. If this changes then I would probably switch over to this app. Love this app, has everything you need for lifting. It's pretty simple at heart which is great but also can be customised significantly to suit individual needs. The main problem I have is that when I hit end workout it doesn't actually feel like that workout has ended? Once marked as complete you should then be shown the summary of your workout then it should be saved to history. You shouldn't still be able to access that open workout from the workout tab, only the history. You would then have the option to go back into the "completed" workout via the history tab if you wanted to make any changes/additions. My workouts feel very unfinished at the moment as you can still go back into them via the workout tab. This part of the app feels very sloppy at the moment. The ui could also do with some improving and modernising, it's a bit plain and confusing in parts.
Love it

I’ve been using this app for years, love it for simplicity and price. And loads of functionality for a gym user who just wants to plan and track their workouts. Don’t need lots of motivational claptrap and fancy graphics. My only complaint is that the description and the graphics for the exercise don’t always tally. This would be an easy improvement for the developer to do progressively, just clean up the database of exercises. Do that and this gets 5 starsThe upgrade is good, importing history is easy - just check if you have multiple profiles since the upgrade doesn’t select by default your most recent and so you may think you’ve lost all those routines you developed and the associated history. You haven’t, just select the latest profile. And if you are new to the App, is irrelevant !!
Developer Response
Thank you and noted. Where an exercise's illustration doesn't match its description, that's a data problem in my catalog rather than something inherent, and it's exactly the kind of thing worth cleaning up progressively and it's on my list. Also, thank you for spelling out the multiple-profiles thing for other readers. That's the single most common cause of "my history vanished," and you've probably saved several people a panic. -Wade
Best App for Gym Workouts
PersonalTrainerDom
I have been using this app for years and I use the paid version which was a one off payment of somewhere around the £4.99 mark if I remember correctly, which in my opinion is a brilliant deal for what you get. The app lets you log every rep, every exercise and times your workout, it gives adjustable rest time bells so you can track your workout down to the last detail for maximum improvement. Plus a brilliant feature is you can see what you achieved on the specific exercise previously on the same screen so tracking progression is made easy and even encouraged. I recommend the app to everyone I know who uses the gym and they all agree it’s the Gym Log is the best in the market. 5 stars any day of the week and that’s even for the unpaid version
Best out there

I am in love with this app. Downloaded this about three years ago (used to input my stuff on Notes). Always liked it. Now that I’m back into gym, I truly appreciate the app. It’s simple and easy to use. I love that I can see what I did the last time and the time before that. I have tried other apps before at that time, though I can’t rmb. This is the one I like the most and stuck to. Used the free app but will buy the premium one very soon. Please don’t get rid of this. Thanks for making this app!
NEW
• Edit or delete a set from its ••• button. Each set you've logged today has one on the logging screen, to edit the set, change its type or superset, or delete it. Tapping a set still copies it into your next one, and touching and holding it still opens the same menu
• Routine changes save as you go. The routine editor has one Done button, and closing it, by Done or by swiping down, never throws a change away. Removed or replaced an exercise by mistake? Undo puts it back, targets and all
• Progression suggestions follow the targets in your routine: a heavier weight when you hit them, a lighter one when you stall short of them. Exercises without targets are no longer told to go lighter. With Pro, the question mark beside a suggestion explains it in plain words, from your own target and sessions
FIXED
• Routines, workouts and your own exercises made on another device appear on their own, as soon as iCloud delivers them or when you come back to the app
• Come back to Gym Log+ after a workout in another app and it checks Apple Health again then, so a workout waiting to be imported shows up straight away. The consistency calendar and streak move to the new day when you return the next morning
• A workout your Apple Watch measures, started right after finishing another, is saved to Health once, not twice
ACCESSIBILITY
• VoiceOver reads your best set in words: "Best set, 12 reps at 225 lb, RPE 9, July 15, 2025"
• VoiceOver no longer reads an icon's name before each progression suggestion
