Why choose iDisplay over hardware display?

Your iPad, iPad Pro, iPhone and iPod touch can be your secondary display.
Works with both Mac and Windows computers.
iDisplay lets you interact with your additional display: move objects, draw, control playback.
Pan and zoom your desktop right on iOS device.
Easily switch between portrait and landscape screen orientations: simply rotate your device and it will adjust automatically.
Normal and double resolution modes for Retina displays.
Customize display settings for each device you use as your secondary display, iDisplay will remember your preferences.
Work with Excel, Word, Power Point and other apps and have all desktop features available on your iPad or iPhone.

On macOS you can choose one of the following iDisplay modes:
Use iDisplay as a regular secondary display: gives you more screen space for everything you have to keep your eye on.
Mirror image from main display on your iPad / iPhone: comes in handy when you need to share your desktop with your audience. Keep in mind that iDisplay allows to connect multiple devices to one Mac! Yes, lots of them! Many colleges use iDisplay.

On Windows, iDisplay can be used as a regular secondary display.

Mac screen background only

Installed this on a MacBook Pro (running High Sierra) and both an iPad (old running iOS 9.3.5) and an iPhone 6s (running iOS 11.2.1) using a 10mbs Wi-fi connection. Tried connecting first using the iPad but the app wouldn’t work at all with the connection icon just going round and round. Then tried using the iPhone. The MacBook Pro screen appeared quite quickly and the mouse cursor was visible with very little lag. However no matter which app was selected from the dock the view on the iPhone remained firmly fixed on the MacBook Pro’s screen wallpaper. To sum up. Doesn’t work so lucky I downloaded it when it became free on the App Store.

Doesn't work with Windows 10

Avoid - this app no longer works. Previous versions were OK (not great stability, but it was possible to get a connection working). However, it no longer works with Windows 10. The last update was a long time ago, so it seems the developers have moved on.

Don’t understand the low reviews

I’ve been using this on and off for years.

I have a MacBook Air 2010 (rocking it OLD school) with a 2018 iPad Pro. Funny enough. In the past, this didn’t work well with my iPad Air and was very laggy. But, in the absence of Sidecar, iDisplay works just as if I’m using Sidecar on my MacBook Pro 2018.

It connects flawlessly over WiFi and USB, no fumbling around like I had to do when I first got this app many years ago. Obviously, it’s slower with a WiFi connection, but no where near as laggy as before and I prefer a wired connection. I did drop the screen resolution to 30fps, since I’m only using this for referencing between two screens, no heavy lifting at all.

It’s a good little app if your feel the Sidecar hole in you Apple life.
