Was clunky but now broken

This app has some sort of incompatibility with ios13 so it’s currently of no use at all!

When it was working it did the job it was made to do.

These sort of apps are always a bit clunky, but that’s at least in part because of the process you have to go through to be able to connect to your printer. Once you know the order to do things in it’s very easy to print anything.

However one big problem I have is that the only way to save a photo you want to print is to actually print it, which makes things quite difficult when combined with iCloud photo, as more often than not the photo needs to be downloaded to your device before attempting to print, but if you’ve connected to the printer you don’t have access to do that and so end up in a bit of a stalemate.

This is very much in part because of the odd way iCloud handles photos, but having an option to import them to the app before trying to join the printer’s network would get around that in a quick and reliable way.

Update:
I received a response from the developer saying that the app required access to location services to be able to connect to my printer. I have given the app the correct permissions but this has not allowed me to connect with ios13. This has made my printer useless.

Developer Response ,

From "instax SHARE development team"

For those using iOS newer than 13.0, in order to connect to the printer, the authority to "Location" is required.
Since the handling of "Location" authority settings on the iOS13 has changed, some customers happened to meet the trouble.

Click "Real Time Template" at App screen, and select "Allow While Using the App."
If this dialogue is not indicated, please go to iOS "Setting" menu and App item. Then select "While using the app" at "Location" menu.
We appreciate your cooperations.

Complicated set up for iOS 13 but now it’s working it’s great.

EDIT: I have now got the printer working. On the main screen where the time is you need to click that and allow the settings, then give it access to photos by clicking choose from photos and then click take a photo. This resets the permissions for each entity. I have iOS 13.2 and it now works fine. I would suggest the dev team writing a step by step guide as it wasn’t the easiest and most obvious place, I was looking in the settings on the app and in the iPhone app settings.

A previous review had a reply from a developer suggesting adjusting the location settings. There is no option on the iOS 13 settings to adjust the location as it’s no in the iPhone location settings nor the general settings for the app.

Can you please advise.

Cannot get it to work last week or two

Is this related to new IoS? Don’t know. Previously never had problems. Had my printer for 12-18 months. It’s fab. App is easy (although sometimes pics are quite white / bright so my advice is always dim the brightness a little). Anyways. Last week or so cannot get it connected even with location “on” in the app per the above advice. Quite annoying as seeing my friend who’s about to have a baby and really wanted to print some pics at the baby shower and couldn’t. Never let me down before so didn’t expect it to now. No help anywhere. Google for issues and can’t see much (helpful) online advice easier. And they say the world is gunna be taken over by robots. Good luck to them!
