Lagging behind newer competition...

We’ve had a Risco system for nearly three years and it is very reliable - but the app and interface is horribly dated and functionality extremely limited. In this ‘internet of things’ age, so many modern competitors have managed to make integrated security apps look and feel superb. With iRISCO, used mostly via my iPad, I seem to have to put up with a stretched, portrait iPhone version of the app, and the whole thing could be so much more user friendly. For example, allow me to choose what appears on the menu at the left (i.e. remove ‘cameras’, etc), add a status panel to the front screen which clearly highlights any omitted or ‘not ready’ zones. Sitting with my installer / maintainer every 12 months, there are masses of useful stats they can access in the laptop based Risco programming tool (no public access!) - such as battery voltages in wireless sensors. Where is the harm in adding this type of monitoring data into the app so users who like detail can get full value from the product they’ve paid for. Guessing it is to protect the revenues and usefulness of alarm companies!

Very poor App

Similar to other users, we have had a Risco Alarm system - which works well, but find this App to be very dated and extremely frustrating. It is a pretty awful interface. We only have an alarm linked to the App. The control involves a swipe to set/unset the alarm which does not always respond. Error messages are common, for example ‘Panel not connected’ - which is simply inaccurate. The App cannot be trusted to accurately reflect the status of the App. On multiple occasions, I have told my son the alarm is unset according to the App only to have him set it off. This App needs a serious makeover to improve functionality and reliability. I have given this App 2 stars on balance because when it works, it works fine but it is so temperamental.

Zero faith in an app that constantly locks me out.

I would say once about every three months I have to uninstall and reinstall in order to try to connect, even when I’m stood inside my own house next to the alarm box and with high-speed internet. It continually fails to recognise my login or re-defines me as an engineer and not a client, and so demands additional engineer login info, then locks me out when I don’t have it. It’s presently been offline even in my own house for the last month.
If it can’t contact me in my own house with broadband, it’s not going to tell me if I’m elsewhere and my house is broken into.
I have zero faith in this app.

Developer Response ,

Hello. This is confusing, as the App has no Engineer access at all.
Please be sure that you are not trying to go by web browser to the Engineer portal.
