When a subscription is canceled, access to the app’s courses and features will expire at the end of the current payment period.

Fantastic app but need some input time
LingQ is an amazing platform for learning languages and I wish I found it earlier. It takes some time learning how to get the most out of it but when you do it’s fantastic. I find the best way to learn is by making your own content and study parts of the language you want to learn rather than use the courses provided. I’m currently reading Harry Potter 1-7 in korean and this has made it so much quicker and easier to recognise what words I do and don’t know. It is also great to be used as a quick dictionary whilst reading. I’m sure there are more features to explore and find but so far I’m very happy! The Space repetition or review part is a waste of time in my opinion. I’d suggest using anki for memorising vocabulary and use this for reading practice/ exposure to how the language is actually used. Also by seeing the vocab many times over and over whilst reading something such as books can be a fun and easy way to learn the words naturally. Definitely would recommend this as an addition to other studying methods.
Still can’t highlight more than nine words. Downgrading is a nightmare.
I’m sure there’s a reason but to not be able to highlight a phrase that has more than nine words is ridiculous. The whole idea of comprehensible input is to understand words in context and yet I often can’t get the context because of this limitation. I’m learning Italian and sentence order can be a bit all over the place, in common with many languages, so context is key. The limit forces me to cut out parts of a sentence that gives absolutely no context when I use flash cards. Another problem is that in many cases you can’t highlight text on the next line. I believe it’s due to the import process . However, this happens with LingQ’s own mini-stories, which should not have this issue. It’s a serious hindrance to using it. I stopped using it before because there were many issues with it came back after a few years of not using it. I had forgotten about the nine-word limitation. I contacted LingQ and they didn’t even seem to read the email properly, only half answering the message. I really wish they would fix this issue. Finally, trying to downgrade to the free plan is a nightmare. ‘Do you want to leave?’ ‘Do you really want to leave?’ ‘Here is an offer. Here’s another offer. What about this offer? Pay £2 to store your data?’ And I still can’t downgrade! Not happy.
Looks good but under the shell it’s rubbish
I am learning Arabic and download and paid to use this app. The problems are as followed: When you click on a word the correct meaning should Show in English however many times a wrong meaning is shown. I verify by using google translate and was horrified to see I was learning words wrong. When I go to play the children's stories the regular sleep of the remain reciter is so fast that it seems it’s on 1.5 speed. How on earth is a beginner supposed to follow someone reading a children’s book so fast. And because it is so fast and without any pauses or deliberations over words that follow natural speech, when I slow it down it sounds just as hard to understand as because she is reading so fast to begin with, slowing it only adds to the unnaturalness of it. Each word is slowed in a strange way and because she spoke fast to begin with each word is joined to the next in rapid succession even in slow. I cannot believe this app!!! Why would you not double check your vocabulary? Why would you get a children’s story to be read so fast and so unnatural and monotone? I am honestly shocked being a language teacher myself. I emailed them and was told “we will look into it” no apologise of consolations message about me wasting my money, nothing. Service is just as bad as the app.
