Prices are in US dollars. Your price may be converted to your local currency.

Your trial converts to a paid subscription unless you turn off auto-renew. Access to the trial will be available as specified even if the trial is canceled before it expires.

Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each term and you will be charged through your iTunes Account. You may turn off subscription auto-renewal at any time through your iTunes Account Settings. We cannot offer a refund for unsubscribing early. After the trial period, iTunes will process auto-renewal payments in the 24 hours before expiration. To avoid auto-renewal, turn it off at least 24 hours before expiration. Manage subscriptions, including auto-renewal, through the iTunes store. Any unused portion of a free trial period, if offered, will be forfeited when the user purchases a subscription to that publication, where applicable.

Home Mesh System

System has been up and running for 1 day and so far so good. The WiFi appears to be faster in previous black spots in the household and even extends further into the garden. The setup was fairly steaming forward, Plug the first node into your existing modem/router, download the app, follow the simple instructions. You are then prompted to add another node, set this up next to your already connected node, the app will advise you can improve network by moving further away so at this point unplug and plug in at your chosen location, the app will prompt if your chosen location is suitable. The process was very straightforward, the most time consuming part was adding all of my devices onto the new network 20+ so far. I renamed each device in the app as I added so I know exactly what is connecting to my home WiFi via the app.

Good start, lags behind some competitors

On the positive side, this app is miles ahead of Netgear (presumably your main competitor) and provides quite deep functionality compared to many apps for mesh systems. Apps from Google WiFi and Plume (possibly Eero from what I've seen) offer a bit more information in a better presentation, but less admin capability.

Some areas I'd love to see improved:

1. Make better use of real estate in the iPad app. As it stands is just the iPhone app, bigger. (but credit to you for even offering a native iPad app) 🙂

2. On both iPad and iPhone, increase the 'density' of information in the device list. Smaller fonts and icons would be a start.

3. Include options to sort and filter the device list by name, connection type, data transferred etc

4. Include a display of devices by which node they're connected to. This is invaluable for trouble shooting. One option would be to have a 'drill in' presentation starting at the top level showing all Velop nodes. Clicking on one presents the devices on that node. Another option would be just a heirarchical display of nodes with their attached devices beneath.

5. Add more device type icons or allow user to upload their own. I have tons of device types which aren't represented. Not critical but nice to have.

6. Not an iOS request, but allow the Alexa skill to restart the mesh.

7. Include some reporting on the amount of data transferred, and a history of speed test results.

A few niggles

In trying to ensure good coverage throughout a five bedroom home we have 5 nodes. When it’s working it’s great. A node, and often different ones, will suddenly, once a week or so, announce it isn’t working anymore. It has be manually reset and the app reset never works. The other niggle is that once a device has linked to a particular node it will stay on that node wherever the device is moved to in the house unless the WiFi is turned of and then on again on that particular device. Once the nodes have linked to each other then that configuration becomes fixed until things are reset manually. For best music and video playing where a device uses the WiFi to connect to a music system or video then make sure that both the device and the music system is connected to the same node. If any one knows how to solve any of these whilst maintaining the ability to be able to print from any device then please say.
