With the Melitta® Connect App you can manage many of the features of your Barista T Smart® or Barista TS Smart® really simply with your iphone.

The Melitta® Connect App really has what it takes:

The perfect coffee: Choose your favourite recipe from 18 (Barista T Smart®) or 21 (Barista TS Smart®) delicious coffee specialities or become a barista yourself and create your own individual freestyle recipe à la "Sunday Morning Dream" or "Hello wake up!". You decide how much coffee, frothed milk or water should pour into your cup and in what order.

My Coffee Profile: Manage the settings of the beverage buttons on your fully automatic coffee machine using the app. You can even save individual profiles for up to four (Barista T Smart®) or eight (Barista TS Smart®) people.

Appliance settings: You can also really conveniently manage the other appliance settings using the app e.g. setting the water hardness level.

Tutorials: Your appliance needs cleaned or descaled? Don't panic, the app has tutorials that show you how to do it!

Handbook: Everything at a glance! The whole user manual in your own language really conveniently "to go".

Service & Contact: Any questions? We are happy to help and can connect you to our Melitta® customer service.

Shop feature: To conveniently shop for your daily ration of coffee we can forward you to our Melitta® Online Shop or our partner shops straight from the app.

Poor Implementation of what it could be

Just feels thrown together and made by someone who never had to use it themselves (as was likely the case). Having to manually reconnect every time is annoying and down to poor handling of different app states. It’s slow to navigate between pages, coffee options are in weird sub menus despite it showing very few things on the preparation menu. Like others have said adding milk to a normal recipe isn’t a thing which seems really daft.

It’s still easier than the buttons on the device for most parts but with a bit more thought this would have been much more pleasant.

Dear customer, thank you for the feedback, we are continuosly working on improvements to our app. In order not to have to reconnect manually every time, you just have to close the app after using it. There is no need to disconnect separately, the connection will be automatically disconnected and will be automatically reconnected the next time you open the app. Please contact our customer service if the problem persists (help@melitta.co.uk). App and use case

Dear team. Wanted to tell you how fantastic it is that I can use the app using VoiceOver on the iPhone as a totally blind person. I have tested a number of competitor products before I purchased my coffee machine, and I can assure you that, with regards to how you connect and the capabilities of the device, you are very much ahead of the game! your app makes the difference between literally me being able to use the coffee machine or not! There are a couple of labelling issues et cetera which it would be great if you could fix, and of course, if it was possible to be able to trigger cleaning functions rather than only reading about them that would be great. I’d be very happy to help with any of these capabilities or insight into the app. please don’t take it away!

Improved greatly since I first bought the machine 3 years ago

So, the first thing I have to say is that this app rates much higher for me than when it would have three years ago for one single reason - when I open the app it automatically connects with the machine. As others have alluded to in their reviews there was this issue where you had to manually reconnect and it felt a bit opposite to what the app and phone connectivity idea was about. Melitta have sorted this and it is bunch better from this perspective.

From an improvement perspective…I guess this is machine related and maybe not possible but it would be great if you could find tune the brewing temperatures more - it’s just hot, medium, cool. I guess if they could change this, that would be great but appreciate it maybe outside of the bounds of the tech inside the machine itself.

Another improvement might be to allow two devices to be connected at once - my wife and I have our own recipes and on separate devices. Again possibly not in the machine to do this but allowing 2 devices would be handy as opposed to being asked to “disconnect” by my wife. Lol.

But still the single issue of connectivity that bugged me for years is sorted and for that I give 4 stars.
