Description
A simple, secure, off-grid, mesh communications app powered by the open source MeshCore project.
To use this app, you must have a supported LoRa radio device, that has been flashed with the latest MeshCore Companion Firmware.
Once you've installed the app, you will need to:
- Pair with your MeshCore device using Bluetooth.
- Set a custom display name.
- and, Configure your LoRa radio settings.
That's it! You can now advertise yourself on the network using the signal icon, and send messages to other users you have discovered on the same frequency.
When other devices on the network have been discovered, they will show up in your contacts list.
For more information, please visit the MeshCore GitHub page.

Ratings and Reviews
Works as advertised
Great for setting up and testing out an experimental meshcore installation. Looking forward to see how it all (meshcore and the app) evolve over time and, hopefully, the community grows.
Excellent
This app is very intuitive and easily understood. Unlike a competitor app for a different network. It would be nice to easily update the firmware via the app for a future update. Other than that, nothing needs improving.
Fishy and dodgy
There is basically 0 reason for the app and some firmware to be closed source, considering a lot of it was built upon the same stacks of open source technology Meshtastic was.
I might be wrong, but seems like a classic bait and switch tactic to extort money off the community once enough of the nodes switched. I mean they even checked true for the in-app purchases option already with barely any features.
Developer Response ,
I've developed free, open source software for the community for over 10 years. I've contributed tens, of thousands of hours of time and effort into all of the various software I have released over the years. All of it for free...
This app is also free, and all functionality is available without having to pay anything. I think it's pretty reasonable to be able to ask for a small amount as an in app purchase to remove a short time delay when wanting to use some of the more advanced features, which aren't required for the core messaging experience, in order to fund my efforts in working on this project.
I don't think it's fair to demand anyone to make their work open source for others to copy and profit from. It's like you going to work, wherever that may be, and your boss saying "Thanks! No pay this week, but nice work! See you next week." But of course, you're entitled to your opinion, and you're free choose not to use this app. As you say, there's other open source software available for you to use already. So maybe that's the better option for your use case?
At the end of the day, we are people, and have feelings, so please be mindful when writing reviews, there's always someone on the other end that reads them.
