Update to my review below; review 2:
I have got used to the new version of this app, but I miss the old one.
Saying that, there are less issues with it.
When I click on a story, it is the story. Whereas before, sometimes I would click on a story, and it wouldn’t be that one! It would be the story before!
And it continued like it for the rest of the page. They couldn’t even make sure that the story and the title matched!
There are quite a few mistakes and misspellings still, but hey, everyone is a reporter now, not just the trained professionals.
Even I make mistakes, but then I’m not reporting to the world, professionally.
Review 1:
At least the pictures section has changed it’s pictures at last!
It’s been months!
I don’t like the new version. It’s not the app I’ve enjoyed for many years.
It’s too white, and the format is like it’s another app.
Stories lead on from stories rather than you going into each separate story.
I will give it time to get used to it, but I might just look for a more pleasing to the eye app instead!

What on earth has happened to MicroSoft news ? 😲 Getting to the ‘actual’ news on this app is now otherworldly 🤔 what is this app is trying to be now ? The dedicated news button has been replaced with a camera button….. why ? And for what purpose ? Furthermore…… Ai integration is being pushed front and centre 😱 should really be optional and not integral to App functionality. It’s obviously the direction MS are heading in now… from Windows to 365. My brain works fine and really doesn’t need augmenting with Ai 😂 This is a baffling piece of software by MS!! Or maybe I’m not seeing the wood for the trees 🤔 ? I ‘hands down’ invite MicroSoft to talk me through why I’m wrong and what I’m missing 🧤The high App Store rating is obviously based around the original version of MS News 👍 it’d be interesting to see what the rating would be if it was handled as a new app (which it absolutely should be). No longer willing to hang on and see if it becomes usable again - uninstalled after many years of use! Disappointed 😞

Did you wake up today and think to yourself “hmmm I fancy some spam?” Well if so then this is the app for you. Do you miss seeing ads ever since you installed your ad-blocker? Well guess what just install this app and you can see lots of them again. Are you busy living your life and ever wondered what it would be like to have your attention interrupted by a random notification about some irrelevant news story which you’ll have to trawl through lots of ads just to be able to read. Then guess what? Microsoft Start has this and all of the above ready and waiting for you. Just download it and away you go. Be less productive. Be more distracted. Be lectured to by countless pointless advertising executives. Do it on your really expensive smartphone that you paid for and own. You know you want to.
