Mileage Tracker by Driversnote 4+

I’ve used, and paid for, this App for many years. Initially, auto-tracking with the iBeacon worked well, then it became a bit hit and miss as to whether a trip would automatically start, or if it did, from a point en route and not the origin. The Customer Support Team has always been second to none, and has always replied to my emails, setting out my issues, or suggestions for improvements, by return. Even thought I had issues with the App, I persevered with it, as they did with me, as I liked it and the Company. The current release works brilliantly, and for quite a while now, auto-tracking has been virtually flawless. Whether it’s improvements to the App and/or IOS and the way it interacts with it, I don’t know, but I’m glad that I never gave up with it. I wholeheartedly recommend it, for people, like me, who need to track and separate business, from personal mileage. The website functions, including exporting reports etc., are also excellent.

This app is simply a game changer for anyone who needs to track and claim mileage for business. It has saved me so much time tracking all my mileage using the iBeacon dongle which is stowed away in the glove box. It’s been 100% reliable over the past 6 months. The subscription may seem steep on the face of it, but the time it’s saved me and convenience is well worth that subscription. The app is easy to use and runs in the background when traveling and in range of the dongle. The review process is easy to use within the app and the monthly reports work well through the app or on the main website. Couldn’t be happier - although it would be nice to have a separate ‘personal’ and ‘business’ reports instead of them both together - but the easy work around is to delete all personal mileage logs giving a nice clean business report at the end of the month. Works for me. Compliant with HMRC too. 5 stars, 6 if Apple would allow it.

I'd figure it's worth mentioning that when you go to create a report, if you click on the report type drop-down list, you can select to create a report of just business trips, just personal or both. Been using this for years, and having tried other apps, wouldn’t use anything else, mainly because this app keeps tracking mileage even during stops & continues until you tell it to stop tracking - essential for tracking mileage throughout a day with multiple stops.

But then after the “update” to version 2, there is a new “feature” that automatically stops tracking if I have stopped for a while.

Honestly, why can’t developers just make new features optional? If I wanted to stop tracking between destinations then I could just turn the tracking off, you know? Now I have to try and remember to switch it in between trips ... I can only assume this is to try and make it so annoying to use that everyone will buy the beacon thing. Well, I might have even done that if you’d given me a decent incentive, but making it annoying to use without spending money is more likely to send me to the competition, frankly.
