Motorway: Sell Your Car 4+

Simplicity is always best!

The app is simple and straight forward to use as is the process of selling your car. The app guides you through the process of taking and submitting photos and documents etc. Once confirmed your car goes into an auction and sold a few days later. Someone inspects the car, they may negotiate the price a little and then transfer the money. They take the keys and collect the car a few days later. Couldn’t be easier.

PLEASE BE AWARE

I have advertise 3 vehicles on motorway and been completely open and transparent on the cars history and condition. It does take a while to take pictures of every scratch, scuff or tiny dent but I wanted to make sure the buyers is not surprised with anything when they view the car. NOTE: You will always get the car sold via motorway, but I noticed that traders take advantage by offering good money just to win the bid then knock the price down once they come to inspect it. Even though I have been completely honest about the vehicle condition when advertised. It’s happened to me and my friends a couple of times who have used this platform. Another issue is of traders/buyers using other drivers to collect the car. Motorway state that the buyer will contact you within 48 hours. One of the cars I sold the trader/buyer call me back a full week later. I had another trader/buyer agree to a date, he called a couple days after to tell me he has had a cancellation and he can collect the car earlier, because I couldn’t commit to that day he wanted he failed to collect the car on the original planned date and push the collection back another week. I took a day off work just to be told his not coming (bearing in mind I had to call him to find out this). Motorway is a good platform but they need to be mindful of the rogue traders that take advantage of the situation. I can give you more bad experiences but I be here all day.

Recently used and sold car

The bad:
I downloaded this weeks before needing to sell my car to begin the process. Don’t do this. You will get hounded by emails asking you to sell / complete the details etc. That put me off.

Don’t take photos of your car in the positions they tell you to take them from. Then assume you can upload. This must be done live. I’d like to think I’m daily intelligent but I didn’t know this nor does the app tell you. So I wasted so much time. A warning would be good.

Once your car is sold you won’t hear from Motorway again nor will they reply to your emails. The dealer/buyer takes over and communication for me was then poor. I had to fill out the dealers forms with the same vehicle info I uploaded to Motorway and I had to chase them to get my car collected.

The good:
Much better than WBAC. Better values given and more exposure.

Quick. Once committed the car is sold the next day and your value is the minimum you will get on the assumption you have disclosed any damage and have been truthful which I was.

App is actually good with the exception of the above (Photos). And great at disclosing any minor scratches etc.

Dealer paid before taking the car away and settled my finance.

Would use again albeit the emails at the start were super annoying!
