I’ve waited a long time for the Screwfix app and I’ve been pleasantly surprised. Opening the app logs me in instantly and remembers my chosen store which are both time savers as a regular customer of Screwfix. Searching for products is easy and the product pages show the remaining stock in your chosen store. The ‘My Orders’ tab allows you to quickly view your past purchases and includes a small image of the product(s) which is great for reordering when you forget what you ordered in the past (like I do)! Checkout is easy and an SMS message is sent soon after informing you that your order is ready for collection, providing your items are in stock. I do miss the Q&A section, which is very helpful when choosing a product, and hopefully the app will integrate this feature in the near future. Overall, I’m very happy with the new app and look forward to further updates. Thanks.
A wonderful purchase

In the middle of an essential DIY job at home my existing cordless drill decided to permanently retire. This is a Saturday afternoon and I could become very unpopular unless I finished it to the satisfaction of “management”!! First port of call was the Screwfix App to see if I could find a suitable alternative at short notice and hopefully locally. My local store, Wetherby, did indeed have 1 item in stock. Thank you, thank you, I was able to make a really good value purchase. The drill, complete with 2 batteries and a charger comes in a very good protective case. What was even more pleasing was to find the batteries were charged and ready to use immediately. A quick read of the instructions and I am back on the case. Job completed before tea time and brownie points in credit. Never been so pleased to have a local branch of Screwfix.

Just useless when it goes wrong

I ordered something, the payment was taken. The app froze just after the money was taken out of my account. I sat watching it for about 45 minutes (it said not to go back or refresh the page so I didn’t). 45 minutes later it went back to the payment page, suggesting I still had to pay for my order. I tried to go into the app’s ‘chat’ page to find out what was going on (the app suggests that’s the quickest way to resolve problems). Typed up my query and then the App ended the chat before it had even begun. I’ve wasted more than an hour trying to resolve this issue and I still don’t know why they’ve taken my money without confirming my order. I will now have to go in to my branch to work out what’s going and to demand they supply the item I paid for an hour ago (if the last one - which I was ordering - is still in stock when I get there). I am not impressed. I should just have checked stock levels and gone in to the branch to pay for the item when it was safely in my hands! This has been a very frustrating waste of time. And it’s not over yet!

Love Screwfix. Use them all the time (even if they are rarely the cheapest these days). The app however is annoying. I don’t know if something has change but every time I open it, I have to log in, despite having FaceID enabled. It then takes ages to open and can be slow to navigate. When I go to order, I then have to faff about picking which of the many local stores has what I want in stock, coming out of one screen to go back to another - there is surely a more seamless way of integrating stock and store choice along the way. Then comes payment - I have lost count of the number of clicks required but, even when I think I have finally paid, I haven’t. Just this week I thought I had placed an order only to discover that it was still in my basket.Lastly, god forbid you need to change your choice of collection location once ordered, or simply cancel an order. You need to call or visit a store for that. So, whilst there are lots of good things about the app, it is far from perfect and often frustrating.
