Easy to use and no issues

I really do not understand why there is so many negative reviews. I’ve been using the App since June 2023 and it does everything I need. Yes there’s probably additional functionality that could be added but I can’t think of anything at the moment. I assume the negative reviews are from an early version as these are complaining of things missing that are actually there. It could also be user error.

Update 2/2/24Worked for ten days after the app update, but now the car is again failing to connect to the server. Worse, this means Octopus energy can’t tell if the car is plugged in, which means I can’t use the intelligent octopus tariff to charge at home. Taycan went in for a PCM update following a recall from Porsche, and this app hasn’t worked since then. There’s no connection to the car at all, so the app is useless. Uninstall/reinstall of the app, and re-authenticating my account in the car has made no difference. The dealership says it’s a server issue and that ‘loads of customers’ have had problems. I love the Taycan; but this issue shows that Porsche still doesn’t realise that for EVs, digital tech is not just window-dressing - it’s an integral part of the car. The Tesla app makes a mediocre car effortless to use; the Porsche app makes an excellent car frustrating. So come on Stuttgart - give the same attention to digital as to dampers, or risk an avalanche of unhappy owners when the Macan EV launches.

Trip recording stopped working

Since I had an issue with the app not working in Aug, the car has been into the local Porsche dealer twice for a hard reset under the bonnet. This has cured most issues with some of the app now working, but the trip details do not update at all and are still showing the last trip in Aug. It is now mid Nov. This new app is nowhere near as good as the old one. It’s so slow to connect and relies on the user to interogate the location of the car when they open the app rather than the location updating in the background and being available as soon as you open it. Very very slow to connect and someone I just give up. The old app was much quicker and user friendly

In this day and age, it’s astonishing that such a premium brand offers an app this dysfunctional.Basic features one would reasonably expect—like tracking the vehicle’s location—either work with significant delays or not at all. Sending a location from phone to the car’s navigation system fails half the time, and even when it does work, there’s often a multi-minute lag. More often than not, I resort to typing in postcodes manually—hardly a seamless experience.The EV charging interface is the worst I’ve encountered. The logic is convoluted and unintuitive. Critical functions like remotely activating the charger are buried deep within poorly labeled, multi-layered menus, some of which don’t even look clickable. The UI design is clumsy and out-of-step with modern app expectations.If Porsche cannot deliver a competent app experience, it should take a page from Tesla—or even Kia—both of which offer significantly more reliable, user-friendly apps. This is a disappointing and embarrassing weakness for a brand that otherwise prides itself on engineering excellence.
