New App My SmartBike, by MAHLE, provides you an enhanced e-bike riding experience by using your smartphone as the interface to your bicycle. Our application is designed to help tune, customize e-bike performance and enjoy your trips. Connect with your e-bike and adjust your preferences, customize motor maps to adapt the MAHLE SmartBike System to your personal necessities, remaining batteries, record your activities, have access to statistics, see bike location and more.
If you need detailed information and a dynamic experience, our web app (www.my-smartbike.com) enables you to analyze the routes in detail and graphically comparing data as elevation, health-related data and exclusive metrics from e-bikes, the tour on maps and share it through third platforms.

I find that the app will not last any longer than 1 hr 35 mins on a ride before the battery runs outI’ve compared battery usage during the same ride with the Strava app, not integrated but running separately on a similar iPhone. The Strava app drains approx 30% of power from the battery I’ve conducted this experiment on both phones and Strava as stated continuously use 30% Would prefer to continue using this app as it gives more dato re the bike and battery etc, however it’s not much use if chucking it after an hour and a half When app is integrated with Strava it doesn’t show any segments

The Mahle SmartBike app has two fundamental problems, with rider safety implications, and I would like to know when they are going to fix this, because until they do, it’s a one star tool which you are obliged to use to manage their battery system.1) sometimes the app demands an account log in before allowing access to the functionality; and (2) sometimes (frequently in my case) the app fails to retain the engineering and battery data from the last connection to the bike.I suspect the issue here is in both cases how they manage access requirements to the internet within the app. They really need to change this, as currently it makes the app an extremely unreliable tool in remote and wilderness areas. If I’m stuck in the middle of a not spot, I should NEVER lose the ability to query and retain the status of my bike merely because I don’t have an internet connection. This matters, needs addressing urgently, and has been ignored for a couple of years now.

Automatically changes assist levels

I hadn’t used this app for a year due to it automatically changing the assist level from L3 to L0 when climbing gradients, just when you need the assistance and the main reason for buying my Ribble SLe. The old app was really useful and didn’t interfere with the e-bike assistance levels. Bike not used for a couple of months and I’d noticed that the app has had an upgrade and includes a section showing Watts which I assume replaces the missing power meter? While struggling up a hill and fumbling with the control button on the crossbar at an indicated 9mph, I noticed the colours change at the top of the screen to red with ‘Turbo’, felt the assist come in, then disappear after a few seconds with the colour changing to grey with ‘You’ displayed. Closed app to continue the ride and didn’t get the chance to check the Watt meter. So nothing has changed with this app, still not usable . Can I suggest an option button to turn off this auto assist because it doesn’t work. Also an option to change from a white background to a black background in the app so you don’t have to remember to change your phone daylight settings before you set off.An edit to the above: Thought I’d give this app another go. Used 2 days on the bike and it now does not interfere with the assist levels, probably because I had problems with my HR monitor and couldn’t connect it. So auto assist in the HR monitor section switches off assist if your heart rate increases. What?!?!1st day I forgot to put the phone into dark mode so had the phone glaring at me, the app used 33% of that day’s battery consumption, 2nd day put phone in night/dark mode and the app used 6% of that day’s battery consumption. Please put that option in the app so the choice can be made permanently, not down to remembering to change the phone settings before a ride. Please?Found the new power meter and it’s a definite improvement now over the original app. Thank you, but should have been included initially.

Thank you for your feedback. The color change (turbo, you etc..) represents the assistance level: if this change automatically you may have a hear rate monitor with the auto-assist mode on? If so, there is a button to just disconnect this option. If the settings of your phone is in dark mode, the application will also follow this and switch to dark mode. Not very impressive.

When it works it is fine. However, sometimes it says that it is processing a ride - then it says it can't be done and everything vanishes into the ether. This seems to happen every other ride. Once it decided to record a walk (which was bizarre as the bike was switched off) which it then saved and I can't delete it. If you remember to take a screenshot of a ride before attempting to save it (and before it forgets you ever tried to save it) there is no facility to add the information manually. I ride in the countryside - not always a phone signal never mind wifi. Fortunately, my old Garmin Edge (9 years old) is more reliable. Basically it can't be trusted to record your rides. Disappointing - and don't tell me to fill in a contact form - already done so and still awaiting response.
