It’s worked for us but wouldn’t buy again

We have been using this for about 7 months. In our house the signal works great and rarely cuts out. When we take it to the grandparents it’s an absolute nightmare and never works. You NEED to have a good WiFi connection to make the monitor worth the money. We have ended up buying a very cheap audio only monitor for trips away which isn’t ideal. I also thought (it’s written on the box) that there were movement notifications but no. The temperature gage is also almost always wrong and says the room is perfect temperate between 18 to 28 degrees?! In the summer this was really distressing because anything over 24/25 was far to hot in the room and the app thought that was fine which is really dangerous if you didn’t walk in and check/know any better. In hind sight I probably would have gone for something else. It’s a shame because it looks great but really performs below par.

App and Camera don’t work. Sock is great though.

Unfortunately the app and camera don’t work reliably which is a shame as the concept is very good, but obviously makes the camera unfit for purpose as a monitoring device. - camera only sometimes shows when you open the owlet app. Sometimes you only get sound, sometimes only image. - I leave my settings for the camera on loud background audio during the night and the app just randomly cuts out so it doesn’t alert me when baby is awake. I have very strong wifi so it isn’t related to that. The last couple of nights I have no idea how long baby has been left crying awake due to the app not working, which is extremely distressing. - the history graph for baby’s sock readings only shows up part of the time (some days it never records the data) and is never up to date. I have no idea how long my baby was awake for when crying because of this. Essentially the app only works very sporadically so is not fit for purpose for a baby monitor you need reliability from. I’m going to have to buy another monitor to use tomorrow - owlet camera was a complete waste of money and not fit for purpose unless they fix the numerous bugs which seem to persist. It’s been a few nights now where it has gone wrong and customer service’s fixes didn’t work. I can’t take the risk it doesn’t work another night at this point.

Has potential but a lot to fix

Initially this camera was great (I have never really used the sock because I was worried it would make me paranoid/go off when it didn’t need to, and looking at the comments here I’m glad I don’t use it). It has a clear picture and the sound is good. However, it is not reliable. When going off the app with background audio running, when you return to the app the picture is frozen and either takes an age to update, or you have to close and reopen the app.
Also, and most frustratingly now my daughter sleeps in another room, the camera disconnects in the night, and when you click the button to get it to connect again it sometimes won’t and we have to switch the camera on and off again. Fortunately we set up an app-linked plug so we don’t have to go into the room and do that manually which would be the option otherwise! It is very disconcerting when we rely on the app to stay on during the night and we are asleep, to wake up and find the app isn’t working, and we have no idea whether she has been crying in the night or not. We have fire doors in our house and are on a different floor to my daughter so hearing her without the camera is difficult so we rely on it heavily. Such a shame for the ridiculous price.
