Description
Noir is a Safari extension that automatically adds a dark mode to every website you visit.
It makes browsing the web at night so much better. With Noir, you won’t be blinded by bright websites ever again.
And the results look great too. Noir generates a custom dark style for each website you visit, based on the colors that are used on a page. You won’t even notice this happening in the background – that’s how fast it is – but you’ll certainly appreciate the end result: a beautiful dark mode tailored for each website, where contrast is preserved and highlights still pop. And with over 20 built-in themes and the ability to create your own, you can customize the results exactly the way you want.
Noir works with any website you visit in Safari, automatically. By default, Noir is linked to your device’s Dark Mode, so websites will only go dark when you want them to. But you can easily customize this to your liking, even per website. Only want to use Noir on just a few specific websites? Sure thing! Disable Noir on some websites? No problem!
Built from the ground up for iOS and iPadOS, the app feels right at home on your device. It supports the brand new Safari web extension feature, which means there’s no need to manually activate it every time you load a new page. The app also tightly integrates with system features such as Shortcuts, Control Center, Focus Filters, and Widgets to fully integrate Noir in all your workflows. And your settings are automatically synced to all your devices using iCloud.
And just as importantly, Noir takes your privacy seriously: it doesn’t collect any of your browsing data. Period.
Noir is made by an indie iOS developer. It does not include any subscriptions or ads. Buy Noir once, use it forever.
Notes:
• Found a website where Noir’s dark mode doesn’t look just right? Let me know by reporting it. The app will be frequently updated to address issues that are reported.
Privacy Policy:
• The Noir extension requires access to the websites you visit to analyze the existing style of the page and to override it with Noir's dark style.
• Noir never collects your browsing data. The only data Noir ‘collects’ are your settings, and those will never leave your device or iCloud account.
• You can read Noir’s full Privacy Policy at https://getnoir.app/privacypolicy
What’s New
Version 2024.3.2
Hi there! This update of Noir adds support for many new and shiny iOS and iPadOS features. Here's what's new:
# Control Center Integration
You can now quickly enable or disable Noir right from your Control Center. Configuring Noir has never been easier.
# Dark and Tinted Icons and Widgets
All of Noir's icons and widgets now work with the new Home Screen customization features of iOS and iPadOS. Noir will fit right in on any Home Screen.
# New App Icon
To allow you to customize your Home Screen even further to your liking, there's a new 'Simple' icon for Noir. You can change your icon from the More tab.
# New Theme
There's a new theme available in the Theme Library, based on the popular (code) editor theme gruvbox.
In order to use many of these new features, make sure you update iOS 18.
2024.3.1: Fixes an issue with Noir's widgets on earlier versions of iOS
2024.3.2: Many website fixes and improvements based on your reports. Thanks!
2024.3.2: You can now 'stop' a Focus Filter in the Noir app when one is active. The Focus won't change, but the settings applied by the Focus Filter will be reverted.
Noir is made by just one person (hi!). Thank you so much for all your support throughout the years. If you can, please consider leaving a review of Noir in the App Store or telling your friends about the app. Both really help a lot. Thanks!

Ratings and Reviews
Just brilliant!
I have been using a shortcut to put sites into dark mode but it was a bit hit and miss and it had to be manually activated on every site.
I stumbled across this and gave it a go and it has more than lives up to any expectations I had of it.
Absolutely brilliant extension that every Safari user needs to install immediately!
Does the job with many options and settings and they are also available on a per site basis if your default choices don’t sit well with that particular website.
In the few weeks I’ve had it the dev (Jeffrey) has provided numerous updates and improvements and it keeps getting better.
If you like dark mode on iOS and wish that websites could match it, well now they can!
I thoroughly recommend you install this as you won’t regret it a bit.
Keep up the good work Jeffrey and many thanks for bringing this to us, we appreciate it.
Cheers.
Developer Response ,
Thank you so much for your review! I'm happy you like the app, and I'm grateful for your kind words!
Nice colours
Loving the colours used for the dark mode. It makes using the phone in the night a lot better!
Only suggestion I have is to have a button to allow us to easily toggle it on or off. There’s an extra step to go through (to toggle it off) which is a bit annoying.
I prefer to use dark mode all the time for iOS, but during the day, I’d like to have Noir off and only on during the night. Being able to quickly switch it on or off without relying on iOS dark mode setting would be awesome.
Developer Response ,
Thank you for your review! Noir integrates with the built-in Shortcuts app of iOS. This allows you to automate toggling Noir. You can also add this shortcut to your home screen, for example, or use it with Siri. I hope this helps!
(Fixed now) Urgently requires confit to blacklist websites
As usual with such extensions it’s hit and miss, when in most cases it works while on some web apps fail, without an option to selectively disable website via plugin config, you’d eventually drop the extension alltogether just because of some websites being more broken. Please add a feature to remove sited by domain, otherwise it’s a big hassle to use native Ask permissions that’s set per each site individually to enable.
UPD
It’s fixed now, thanks for s quick response!
Developer Response ,
Thank you for your review! If you tap the aA button in the address bar, then tap 'Noir', the Noir menu will open. Here you can disable Noir on that specific domain.
I hope this helps! Additionally I'll keep improving Noir with each update!
