I joined On Hand as part of a company initiative. I have volunteered quite a bit over the years for various things, mainly stuff our son got into; however this app has opened up a world of volunteering and climate initiatives I hadn’t even thought about. It’s amazing to how small changes to our day to day lives can impact on the environment and how just a phone call to a lonely person can make such an impact. The small bite size missions don’t have to take over your life, just fit them in when you have a spare few minutes, maybe on lunch for if you are sat in a car park waiting to pick up the kids. Fully recommend, it’s changed the way I think and my choices. Fully recommended 👏

OnHand was introduced to us as part of a company initiative to drive CSR, as such the training and awareness prior to use was great. The app is easy to use and quite intuitive. There is a wide variation of tasks you can undertake, all called ‘missions’ and there is something for everyone. There are easy ‘missions’ for those just starting on their environmental and sustainability journey (like turning your heating down by 1’c or putting your washing through at 30’c), ranging to more complex and time consuming ‘missions’ (volunteering or setting up local drives). The range in levels of ‘missions’ gives you goals to aim for. The only downside, and the reason I have not given 5 stars, is that you are encouraged to upload photos to support the completion of your ‘mission’. I have no issue doing this for most of the missions but feel uncomfortable that the app asks you to upload photos for ‘missions’ like speaking to a homeless person, taking a meal to an elderly person (and others). While not uploading a photo for those ‘missions’ doesn’t stop you completing them or getting the points, it just feels a little off and against the ethos of doing good and the right thing for the right reason- not for social media.

My experience with onHand has been very fulfilling. I had been interested in volunteering for a while without really knowing where to start. The team and the app guide and facilitate the process so helpers can participate in the manner best suited to them. It makes me so proud to be able to help others and make a positive impact to the community.It's been particularly enjoyable during these strange times to socialise with new people and engage in fresh topics of conversation. I think we have all dearly missed social interactions and onHand provides the space to reconnect with one another as well as offering the ability to brighten someone's day.

The On Hand app is fantastic for completing missions which not only help save the planet but also make you feel good about yourself. It’s amazing how many things are on here that we might naturally do in our everyday lives. Why not record all these good things and become part of a team. You can even have some healthy competition within your organisations - we already do a lot of charity work and volunteering within our organisation but having the On Hand app to actually see how much people are doing, is just brilliant.
