Patreon 12+

I’m new to Patreon, having recently signed up to support a podcast. I’m not sure if it’s just me, but the app seems to be missing a lot of basic functions - I can’t filter the podcast episodes by date, or by type (Patreon bonus episodes or normal episodes), or even search for specific episodes. I find myself using the Patreon website instead as it has slightly better functionality, but it’s still very lacking in basic features which makes it a frustrating experience.

UPDATE: Since I wrote this review there have been updates which allow me to search for certain podcast types from the creator I follow, as well as filtering by oldest first. This is exactly what I wanted and needed, thank you! Great app.

Initially I was happy to participate and be part of the brainstorming for artists and some profiles are actually good and music related, with professional approach, but I have recently had a very bad experience where, despite me being genuinely supportive whilst not getting involved with any personal stuff, also to respect the privacy, I found out that my personal social media profile outside the Patreon (and at this point also something else maybe) were checked and tracked and false narratives created based on nothing which is very close to cyber bullying. Asked to provide evidence of how my data were being used, no explanation was given and I have instead been banned literally for no reason, having also all the evidence of my good faith. I am reporting this publicly, first because I know I am on the good side and nothing to hide but also because Patreon didn’t take any action to investigate further and my experience has become quite disappointing. I need to warn people to be careful as you think to just go and support artists but you get stalkers and your information badly dealt with.

… but still one the most reliable ways to pay creators you enjoy regularly, which is why I’m giving it 2 stars and not one.

But, honestly, I was trying to update my email which was being glitchy and wouldn’t let me do the normal way and since getting in contact with customer support and so far they have only made the problem worse.

Originally, I was still able to log in to use my account and access my rewards but since they “tried to help” I have had my log ins broken so I can’t get in but I’m still getting charged. To get it sorted, before the log I was broken, they requested a ridiculously long list of requirements to prove who I am, including but not limited to: The IP address in using, the dates and amounts of my last 2 payments to them and card details from those payments (even though I pay through PayPal so they don’t have that info)

I told them I could still log in (because I could at the time) so they shouldn’t need that info but I couldn’t change my email. They asked me to do a screen record to show the issue, which is when the log in stopped working. I told them this and they’ve ignored me for a week now so I’m probably going to get charged again without access.

Absolutely appalling. Definitely gone downhill since they started doing investment rounds - clearly prioritising their market value over their usability…
