Nice design, easy to use, intuitive

Tho I hope there to be more functionalities for sorting, flagging, filtering, grouping and rating like Lightroom does. Currently it’s heavily dependent on Apple photo /file browser, tho the integration is decent. The only issue found so far is that it might get a bit laggy when having a handful of active editing layers on Mac app. Another small imperfection is the perspective correction tool. The current capability of straightening function is a bit too basic when compared to Lightroom. Id it great if straightening can be done in more precision and perhaps by drawing guide lines. Other than that, so far so good. Id recommend give it a try. Better then darkroom as a lightroom alternative. If u utilise or are willing to utilise Apple photo as ur main place to sort and store ur photography projects it will be a even better experience.
Developer Response
Hey there, thanks for the feedback! We appreciate it. Image sorting and flagging are already on the roadmap for Photomator and straightening tool improvements are on our radar as well. So stay tuned for future updates! Also, we're sorry to hear about the issues you experienced when working with layers in Photomator. If you haven't done so already, it would be great if you could email us about this at support@pixelmator.com with more details. We'd love to take a closer look at this for you.
Simple. Intuitive. Fantastic.

Pixelmator photo for iPad strikes a good balance between usability and functionality, and has a very simple and intuitive interface. It’s not on par with affinity photo in terms of raw power but its brilliant for its speed of workflow, and I really like the built in filters. It’s also great value for money. In terms of functionality its more lightroom than photoshop, however I prefer this. I stopped using adobe by and large when it became clear that they were so far behind in mobile, and they became greedy with their subscription model. I also use pixelmator pro on mac. A feature from the Mac I would really appreciate on here would be ML SuperResolution which transforms the humble jpeg from usable image for instagram and the like to allowing one to make large high quality professional prints with the click of a button. Many may say that those making prints should be using RAW files, but those individuals are unfamiliar with Fujifilm Cameras excellent and beautiful built in film simulations which only work in jpg. Which again speed up ones workflow, but also achieve highly original photo prints. There are a few pro re-touching features I’d like in both apps, one of which that I’d appreciate sooner than later would be the ability to liquify, which again would mean less necessity to be jumping between apps to complete an edit. Well done, and Keep up the good work guys!
The contender has finally arrived
DigitalPhotographer22
The contender has finally arrived on the iOS iPad scene. A true godsend to photographers where Adobe Lightroom used to dominate. The options provided are plenty. Photomator allows you more freedom in color grading. The HSL adjustment panel is not exclusive to the entire image alone. Each mask has its own HSL adjustment panel where changing one color’s hue, saturation and lightness affects the selected mask area and not the entire image. Especially great where sunset oranges can be adjusted in a specific area without having the image look like it’s been rummaging in a bag of Cheetos. Each individual mask can have its own lut adjustment or preset. The temperature adjustment controls render a better warmer image and vice versa. Other apps fail to enhance warmth without having images turn yellowish. The upscaling option is more than I can describe. Images are upscaled with ease and minimal quality loss. I was able to turn my old Canon 7D 16 megapixel photos to 45 megapixels. My Canon R5 images magically turn into 60 megapixel wonders. With ease. Two options are currently missing which are Dehaze and the option to choose a rectangular marquee, in which is absent in Lightroom as well. I’m glad I’ve jumped ship and will not renew my Lightroom subscription.
