Work in Progress

Whilst you can definitely see where Polestar are heading with this, it’s currently a Work in Progress at best. Connectivity is spotty at best (battery charge info only seems to update at intervals rather than give an actual real time charge) and the car info is very limited. You can lock/unlock doors (seems to work well so far), turn on the climate control (haven’t used it yet) and view car charge (see above). What’s really annoying is that you seem to have to enter your log in details every time you open the app - not thumb print log in that I can find and doesn’t seem to remember me. That in itself is a pain.

I can see where they are going and believe it will get there if they keep working on it. For now though, it’s marginal whether it’s worth the download.

Poorly executed app

I’m used to having remote functions on car apps having driven a BMW for years. This app is so bad it not worth downloading at the moment. Phone as key is always broken and it can’t be relied upon to work rendering it useless. The remote functions that are available disappear when this breaks so you end up at square one setting it up again, if that’s even possible as I can’t do that now either. Polestar, you have to work harder on getting functionality to an appropriate level of quality, these issues are damaging to your brand. It should not be form to the absolute detriment of function.

These cars are glitchy at the moment and the app is an example of this. Even though update frequency is low for every issue that seems to be resolved another one is introduced. I’m coming up to 12 months of ownership and so far I’ve had more issues than any car I’ve owned before - such a shame.

Excellent Car, Worthless App

First and foremost, I love my PS2. As a car, amazing experience. This app however is awful and except for access to a ‘manual’, customer support and battery charge level (when it works), it’s otherwise pretty useless. Considering the high-tech market, it is way behind apps for petrol/diesel vehicles for example. And even with its limited functionality, there are every day bugs which hinder the already limited experience. Here’s what I’d have expected at the very least:

1. Mileage and performance/driver history data
2. Ability to control temperature of car remotely (currently only an on/off capability as and when it works)
3. GPS capability to locate vehicle
4. Ability to plan a trip on your smartphone and have it remotely sent to car
5. Service status/schedule
6. Warning notifications eg tyre pressure, upcoming service
7. Alert via app if car alarm activated
8. Washer fluid level or notification if low

And a few more ideas!!!
