Rayo - Radio & Music 12+

Still in early development

I write this, after reading a few other reviews and I agree with them.. I think it’s still under development. Don’t really understand why the main app (I use Kiss) is pushing this app all the time. Reason I say it is it’s not fully developed and missing so much, that the main kiss app has. There’s no sleep timer, there’s no car mode / car play etc.
It has great potential however. I see that all the premium stations are there, and after logging in with my Kiss details the premium content does unlock too.
A few things I’d like to see however the front screen lets you add 6 stations for easy access - however these are limited in choice and the offering that’s their I’m not a huge fan off.. it would be better if we can select one of the many stations from the list (Kisstory 80’s, relax with jazz, absolute 90’s etc) to let it play and have a button to make it one of the 6 “preset” buttons on Home Screen instead.

It also asked me what genre I liked, but suggested stations I hasn’t chosen in that genre.

Lastly I entered my postcode but decided to tune into somewhere further away.

Anyway, hope these issues will be addressed and fixed. Hopefully the rest of the station apps won’t close until the features are here too?

Too early to use

The app is very flaky here, I hope it improves as it gets developed.

It has one advantage over tune-in and the old Greatest Hits Radio apps, it will reconnect if you go in and out of coverage, neither of the other apps would do that.

Issues :

1 fails to remember login when it restarts, painful to have to enter email and password every time

2 fails to remember the location, each time the application is started it asks what region I need then about 50% of the time, regardless of what I enter it picks Birmingham

3 if I stop the application before a program finishes whilst the application is paused ( for example using in the car) and then I return to the application when a new program has started the application will start and play but there is no audio and to get it to work again it is necessary to kill the application and restart it…. Have to enter email/ password / location all over again.

I hope it gets better.

Update 25/7.
I noticed CarPlay was now added, so gave it another go…one major bug with CarPlay….if you have more than one car added the app only shows as an option in the first car on the list and is nowhere to be seen for the other car.
Not good really. Deleted again until the app comes out of beta.

Not earth shattering by any means, most of the functionality is available in any of the station apps. The only difference is this says it will offer ‘personalised’ suggestions as to what you should listen to…. For ‘personalised’ read every move watched and tracked….. Look at the ‘partner’ list of the scum of the earth tracking companies it has partnered with! Madness!! Anyway deleted and I’ll stick with my usual station app, I’ve already dealt with all the privacy hoops in that one. Finally, all the other ‘individual’ station apps now have a big splash advert on opening them to tell you to download this instead…..no thank you…not while there’s still options available. Tried it, far too intrusive and demanding, deleted it.
