Wouldn’t have minded the subscription cost if it was actually good

You cannot use this app unless you pay the monthly subscription fee.

This wouldn’t have been a problem if what was offered was worth the money, but sadly it isn’t.

The plant identifier works OK, and I liked the idea of building your own garden profile/library so you could get tailored advice. But you can only add a plant to your garden profile if there are details (seasons, required care etc.) for it on the data base. And while the plant identifier could find close matches for everything I tried, around half of them didn’t have any details on the database, so I couldn’t add them to my garden profile. If we had a complicated/exotic garden, I might be able to understand more why they wouldn’t be on the database. But all our plants a very ‘standard’ for an English garden. So it all just feels a bit pointless and not worth the money

Hello
We are improving our plant database all the time, please let us know at rhsgrow@rhs.org.uk if there are particular plants you are unable to find and like to see and we will include that in our prioritisation.
We have new features and product improvements coming all the time.

Many thanks
RHS Grow team

Extra cost despite being a member!!

Like the previous reviewer I downloaded this app only to find an added cost to use the app despite being a member, so it will be deleted. I find it irritating that on downloading an app there is then a monthly/yearly cost to use it to its full potential (which affects many types of apps, when are app developers going to realise that a nominal one off charge would greatly increase its use, whereas people like me just end up deleting it as we can’t afford the subscription costs) - this app should be free for members, we are pensioners and while we budget for our yearly RHS membership, extra app costs are not an option for us.

Very useful, few tweaks would make it great

We’re building a new garden from scratch so putting a lot of new plants in and this app is great for keeping us on track re what we have and what we should be doing as not hugely experienced.
Few areas that could improve.
- be able to put more information in as well as postcode. We’ve been creating a collection for each bed, container. Would be great if you could put in that this collection is a flower bed, container, wall etc. Where it is - orientation, shade/sun etc. So the tips are relevant. Eg i said I had containers so the tips cover all the plants I have whether in a container or not. Or at least be able to say to a tip not relevant so doesn’t show again.
- Probably too big an ask but if you could
upload your own site plan that the collections could relate to would be brilliant
- For plants without photos, you don’t always display the name in the tips, but if you click on it, it doesn’t take you to the plant, just for saying if you’ve completed the tip. So you don’t know what plant it’s referring too.
- once it sees what plants you had in a collection if it could suggest other plants that would go, that would be amazing.
