Description
This app organizes the vast and varied library of Rick Steves’ audio content into geographic-specific playlists so that travelers can enjoy ready access to the information that relates specifically to their travel plans. Many tracks provide general cultural and sightseeing information gleaned from his public radio program, Travel with Rick Steves. Other tracks are self-guided tours to great sights and historic walks. While we travel there’s lots of down time, and this application can both entertain and teach. Rick Steves Audio Europe will hopefully make your European travels more meaningful and more fun.
Features:
• The app downloads and stores audio files on your device. No Wi-Fi or cellphone connection is required to listen. (You will need a connection if you choose to add audio tracks later.)
• Handy maps (PDF) that complement the self-guided audio tours can be viewed on your device.
• The audio content originates from Rick Steves guidebooks and the Travel with Rick Steves public radio program. Self-guided tours are excerpted from Rick Steves country and city guidebooks.
• Rick Steves Audio Europe is a work in progress. New audio tracks will be added and existing tracks updated as necessary. Be sure to enable Notifications for this app to get the latest updates.

Amazing content but...
Giving this 5* as content is superb, but app has some annoying bugs that realty need fixing. The worst is that it handles app backgrounding really poorly, PLEASE fix this common use case:
1. User listening to podcast but decides to take a photo. The app doesn't handle playing whilst taking a photo well so user pauses app audio
2. After taking photo, user switched back to app but 90% of time finds that the app just shows a loading text which never goes away
3. User has no choice but to force close app, then navigate all the way back to the specific audio guide they were listening to
Most download for travelers!
Absolutely amazing app! The free and numerous city tours that Rick offers have lead me and my wife to call Rick our “travel sensei.” The free tours are a great way to understand a new city and they bring to life what would normally be a boring walk from one tourist sight to another. He also offers several free audio tours of popular attractions, saving money on purchasing the in-house tour. We have used this for at least 10 different cities/countries. I cannot recommend this app enough!
Best tour guide I’ve ever had
Honestly, Rick Steves is the best. Just got back from a trip to Rome where I listened to 4 or 5 of his tour guides, and they were perfect! Not too long, not too short, easy to follow with the right level of detail and entertaining dialogue. No boring listing off names and dates, just genuinely interesting details about what you are looking at. We paid for a audio guide for one day - what a mistake. The audio tour was so boring I gave up half way through and listened to Rick instead!
