Need old generation compatibility

Okay fine there’s a chip that improves the galaxy buds+ but surely you can make another app to suit the old generation of galaxy buds (which btw only came out in 2019 so they’re not even old) since on your website it claimed full compatibility with IOS. It’s so disappointing to loose 99% of the features of something you paid a hundred quid for just because the company refuses to make an app for IOS users!!!! Can you really not just make a whole app for the old generation? A lot of people are complaining and I think it would definitely be worth your while.

RE your response: I don’t think you understood my complaint? There ISNT an app for the old generation of galaxy buds if creating an app for it requires a phone older than a 7 then that’s fine at least people with those phones will be able to utaslise it (and I have an iPhone 8 anyway so this app would work for me if I had galaxy buds+) but I was asking why they couldn’t create a whole new app for the old generation of buds? You can’t update this app to accommodate sure but can you not create a new one? I’m just really desperate to be able to use more of the features as is loads of other people as I’m sure you can tell from the other reviews.

Developer Response ,

Dear user, we understand your frustration, we really do but that is not something we can solve with an application or "software update". The minimum requirement for the Galaxy Buds app to work in iOS is satisfied by iPhone 7 and later models with iOS 10 and later versions. The Galaxy Buds app is not compatible with iPhone's older models.

Incompatible with iOS

I love my Galaxy Buds, and have used them religiously for two years. But the lack of support for use on iOS is getting ridiculous. This app simply does not work on modern iPhones. I recently upgraded from an iPhone 11 to an iPhone 12, and cannot get the headphones to pair with either. However, using a friend’s iPhone 7, they worked first time.
This is frustrating, and not what you would expect from such a large company.
I feel incredibly let down by the lack of support from Samsung on this issue - the mildly sarcastic responses to other reviews, with the same instructions copied and pasted over and over, is insulting to customers who have forked over a small fortune for these headphones.
To spend more than £100 on headphones with customisable settings, then be unable to alter these settings because their app is outdated, seems ridiculous.
I will soon be switching to AirPods if this matter isn’t resolved.

Developer Response ,

Hello there, we're sorry for the inconvenience it may cause but the older generation of Galaxy Buds (SM R170) will not work in iOS.
Galaxy Buds+ and Live has improved its performance and usability through an enhancement of both the hardware and software. Especially, by having a new chip that has a better connectivity and memory, the newer generation of Galaxy Buds+ and Live are compatible with iOS devices. Since iOS compatibility is made possible through the new chip, it is supported only for Galaxy Buds+ and later models. Thank you for your understanding.

Working after some adjustments to install.

UPDATE: After some tech support a slightly less than normal/expected setup has these working now. I’ve posted at the bottom of this review what support asked me to do in the event it might help others. Pleased with the fact they are working now as I can use them for both my personal phone (S20+) and my work iPhone 11.

ORIGINAL REVIEW: They appeared to connect to the phone but they would never source any of the audio through them. Uninstalled.

First, you need to reset the Galaxy Buds App. Open the App. Then go to General and tap on Reset earbuds > Reset. 2. After the Buds app reset, close the app and close the Buds+/Live case with the earbuds in it. 3. Open the case after sometime, then go to your iPhone Settings> Bluetooth> Connect with Galaxy Buds+/Live . Quickly move on to the next stage. 4. Open the Galaxy Buds app and Get started> Select Galaxy Buds model> Connect

Developer Response ,

Dear user, we are really sorry about the troubled experience you have had. This could happen if you connect the Buds with the app first, before connecting with the iPhone's Bluetooth. There's no need to worry though, lets try some troubleshooting steps shall we?
4. Open the Galaxy Buds app and Get started> Select Galaxy Buds model> Connect.
Please let us know how it goes, thank you.
