Good idea ... but could be so much better
Having used the ScotRail app now a few times I’ve drawn some conclusions. Firstly it’s confusing. Do I still need a paper ticket. I simply want to buy and use a ticket with the app. I’m don’t want to use a smart card alongside the app or have to load the tickets on the app .... arghhhh. See it’s confusing, mr ScotRail developer simply create an app where customers can purchase electronic tickets and tap in out of barriers with NFC. You’re making a simple process not only costly for yourselves but confusing and unworkable for your customers. So please rethink your smart card idea. It was good in 2010 but not in 2020.
Still totally unreliable
Why can’t ScotRail sort their app out? Most of the time it goes round in circles never providing the train times and frequently can’t seem to let you buy a ticket even if you are lucky enough to get all the times displayed and wish to purchase. And as for info on services with problems we’ll good luck..often says there are problems but can you get any more info by clicking on the service you wish to know more about....
For pity’s sake It is now 2019 but given the inordinate number of trains cancelled for any number of reasons over the last few months. I would suggest that this is just another part of the failing service provided.
Someone needs to test things properly and not just provide yet another inadequate update.
Smart card? More like dumb card. Stick to paper!
The smart card is a joke. Don't download it and stick to paper tickets, an absolute joke. The first card broke as it's poor quality. Then when you get a replacement, you need to wait ages for it to be active and then you need to remember to top up the new card. Apparently there is a hidden drop down. Poor UX, who would want to top up an inactive card???
Then you have the embarrassment of dealing with the gate fascists who assume you are trying to defraud them by pulling out emails and screenshoots to prove you actually bought a ticket, that's really a really degrading feeling.
Honestly, this will cause you grief. Stick to the old paper method because this app is woefully developed and implemented.
