Great game, but things could be better.
It’s amazing what they have achieved to deliver on mobile! Great game overall and I haven’t encountered many issues given my device capabilities. The game takes a lot of battery, but it’s a huge game to run on a small device, so I’m not surprised. Only issue that has been a pain is that restore purchases never work. It is an absolute nightmare to restore purchases, it never downloads even if you do have plenty of storage and bandwidth. It is such a pain to delete the app, log out of iCloud etc every time as it logs me out of all my apps where I have items downloaded and have to re-download everything again. It is a huge nuisance and extremely poor design. I haven’t been able to access new frontier pass for MONTHS now because I cannot restore purchases. I would kindly ask the developers to look into this ASAP - as I don’t mind spending money to get new add-ons etc, but it’s putting me off getting anything at all due to how poor the journey is. Hope this gets resolved ASAP.
Good but……
Great game have it on the pc. Big problem for me though is you can’t share games files. You can copy them to the pc and play them on the pc version, but you can’t copy them back as the civ folder and files on the iPad are locked. Tried using cloud saves file option but although they are clearly the same file, again it seems they have been blocked. Also tried iCloud, but again the files on the ipad are locked. Have logged a call with support.
Known issue not being fixed, will not load
Over the years I have got used to periods when functionality and performance has struggled. At one time the game would freeze or just crash. Which has always been a shame, because when it works it has always been a great game.
But since IOS 17.3 things have been a lot worse. Now weigh IOS17.4 it’s finally broken and there appears to be no fix. The makers know about the issue and yet are still allowed to sell the game! Don’t buy this game, it will fail to load, showing an error message and simply leave the splash page hanging.
I checked the makers web site and they have known about the issue for some time. You must assume they checked IOS17.4 when it was in beta and available to developers.
So one star as you can not leave no stars. And a warning, it’s not cheap and if like me you have bought the expansions then you would have spent a lot. Now just taking up disk space.
