Nil stars

If I could give this 0 stars I would. The app is less than useless. All but 4 of the icons have vanished, and in spite of being told how to go into the Command Panel menu to restore them on the panel they are still not showing on the app. Thinking of deleting, except that control panel is missing icons too, so we’re between a rock and a hard place. I’m so upset and frustrated at the amount of time I’m having to spend on this - still to no avail. And it’s supposed to be an updated app!! Forget renaming the dimmer switches - spend some time on fixing this potentially very useful app.

N.B. I wrote this in a spirit of frustration but I must say that I have been contacted and given help on resetting the app. And I’ve seen an improvement. Not 100% there yet, but definitely much better, and so reassured that that there is a real person willing to help personally, not by sending an e mail with ‘helpful’ tips, but by phone contact. Thank you x.

Developer Response ,

Hi Goldilocksbear, thank you for the update on the review, I know you are still monitoring your control panel and just get back in touch if the problem comes back. For anyone else suffering with a similar problem, if your icons do not appear on your control panel then they will not appear in the App either. The control panel issue needs to be addressed first before anything else can happen. The App takes the information from the control panel as to what is installed/available in the vehicle. In this situation the Goldilocks has added back the equipment via the control panel advanced settings (but is monitoring to see if they disappear again). Also on pairing it must be done via the Bluetooth page as this will read your current vehicle configuration and set up the App for you.

Initial reactions, disappointing

Disappointed to see there are now 3 versions of the app. There might be reasons for this and hope it’s so the 2019 can be supported more easily over the longer term.

The UI is awfully unappealing. Blue on black. Yugh! No visually impact. Designed by coders not by UI specialists? An immediate turn off.

The first version has colour in it which made it visually more appealing.

For me, The most important function of this software, the one I use most, is to monitor the battery / solar charging. There is a battery voltage graph. It’s worse than the previous one, it smaller. It still shows the voltage from, 0 to 20v when you sew actually interested in a far smaller range, perhaps 11.5 to 13.8. Previously I had a van with a phantom tracker, the graph auto ranged to cover the voltage ranges measured, not a fixed range. Far better.

Hardly used the new app. So a more considered view will follow.

Room for improvement on UX

Some status info on the Home Screen would be a big improvement. Showing key info on tank levels, current demand, appliance status etc would enable a one glance look, instead of having to go into every section individually. The buttons could contain status info. App gives the impression of being very sluggish because it dims and disables all controls whilst it is communicating, shoots itself in the foot there. App also could have leveraged the backend controls of the web system instead of just opening the web system for remote control. Opening web system would be ok if that itself wasn’t so painful to use itself. It’s a shame, the functionality is all there but some of the user’s key practical needs are missing from the design.
