A Great Tool to Learn With... But.

I am new to the coding scene so decided to start with the basics. This app is very easy to use and helps you understand how coding works in an informative, fun way. My only frustration is echoed in other reviews on here, the overheating issue. I have a Macbook Pro 13" 2019 with 8gb Ram and a 256 ssd. It runs flawlessly other than when i decide to work with Swift Playgrounds. After about 10 minutes the fans start to kick in and my CPU temp is around 72-75 degrees Celcius. Keep working and the fans continue to increase in speed and sound as they try to keep the CPU around this temp. Battery is also impacted with a 10-15% drain in 15 minutes? As soon as i close the program everything returns to normal with the CPU at a modest 30-33 degrees Celcius. interestly i run the same program but on my Ipad air 3rd gen with no issues what so ever. Why does this program demand such resources on a mac? I would like to score this app higher than three stars but to not be able to use the app for more than 20 minutes at a time is crazy. I hope as others have said this is a software issue and will be fixed with a future update.

Really enjoyinh learning but it runs like trash on MacBook Air

I'm really enyoing learning the basics of coding on this but the app does not run well on MacOS. Every now and again it crashes when I try to delete something, the animations are incredible laggy, the Air heats up. It runs perfectly well on iPad so get it on there if you can. Why release something that doesn't run well?

Runs flawlessly on Apple Silicon

People are complaining about performance on macOS (but have no issues on iOS). I tried this on an entry level MacBook M1, and the CPU usage hardly increases (maybe one or two percent) when running the demo games.

Swift Playground is a generall purpose scratchpad for learning Swift, so it's not just a toy. It just includes tutorials that work really well for kids - way nicer than Skratch etc, and Swift is an awesome language (especially if you already use Macs).
