It enables you to access it remotely even when you are not at home providing you have a wi-fi connection. Great if the weather changes and you wish to open or close shutters and or canopies.
Needs more development
This is a tricky one in that the app itself seems OK if not feature packed. But when paired with the Somfy Sonesse 30 Wirefree RTS motor system serious problems emerge.
Firstly, the configuration of the blind motor, such as setting movement limits, is done on the motor itself. The configuration is done using a remote control and is buggy. There is no feedback on the app itself to indicate each stage has been completed properly. Instead, the blind ‘jogs’ up and down (sometimes) but not always as the instructions suggest. It is confusing at best.
Trained installers presumably know how to work around these issues, but why are they there in the first place?
Secondly, once installed the Sonesse 30 Wirefree RTS motor system has two trailing wires hanging down from each blind (One for the antenna and one for the charging plug) it looks terrible and fouls the blind in operation. Somfy says they have to be there, but of course they could be concealed harnessed if the design had been properly thought through. Worse the wires are not shown in any of their marketing material as far as I can tell.
Beware what you get is not what you see!
I regret buying the blinds with the Somfy hard and software and feel I have wasted over £1,500 on a half-cooked design with TaHoma interface.
Needs a lot of work.
So where do I start from.
The last update clearly says Somfy Team will listen to feedback, lets hope so.
About a month ago Somfy had started to show the HomeKit sign for the TaHoma which made me feel that the product was ready. Once i had got the device and couple of weeks later after i had installed the product i notice that HomeKit was not available. Disappointed. (I clearly took a screen shot of this false advertisement) I hope that the current hardware will help us to have HomeKit.
So the app was huge disappointment as i notice a lot of glitch.
Automatic sign in or even have FaceID sign in would have been nice.
3D Touch would have been nice to have for the scenarios quick fast access as they don’t have HomeKit enabled.
To run a scenario you have to click twice to activate the blinds.
The Apple Watch Somfy app, still waiting for this to work.
It would be nice to have the app on the Apple Car Play so that I could Run pre set scenarios.
It would be nice to have the app to work with apple shortcut app so i could run at least short cut using the Somfy Scenarios.
I hope the above feedback is taken into consideration as there is a lot of work to be done to justify the TaHoma for £300.
