Great so far
I’m quite chuffed I’ve just saved myself about £20 on 4xVUE tickets ...on a FRIDAY night!! Quite impressed. Yet to use in restaurants but first experience - pretty good! I already have 2-4-1 Meerkat Movies but doesn’t apply on weekends! Grr! Like who goes to the cinema weekdays?! Lol.
I will probably double check with restaurants over the phone first - asking for the manager - to confirm discount. As far as the app itself, I would expect better quality as a paying member but end of the day so long I get my discounts I’m happy. Beggars can’t be choosers some would say.
New app dreadful.
Sorry to say that the latest update to the app has made using it to find restaurants nearby almost useless. You used to be able to search for venues nearby according to the location of your device but now you have to enter a precise town. I recently used it to find somewhere in Winchester and now it won't revert to my home town, or anywhere else, so I'm stuck with just places in Winchester until I close the app, delete it then download it fresh and set up my identity again from scratch. If I enter Newport (Isle of Wight) it brings up just one local Beefeater then everything else is in Newport South Wales! No explanations or ways around it. Terrible app which will make me consider cancelling my account. It used to be simple and useful to use with the map search as well.
The restrictions on when you can use card diminish the overall value, and the fact that you have to call in advance and mention you will be using your Tastecard inevitably makes you suspect you are treated differently to those paying full price.
Purchased cinema codes that would not work correctly, when I finally got them to partially work I had to pay the remaining ticket price (standard seats in 2D no extra’s) even though I was under the impression the codes would be sufficient to cover the cost of my tickets. Tastecard refuses to acknowledge my problem, and then refused to refund my codes, despite me explaining I could get my money back through the bank if necessary through a charge back transaction. All in all I saved about £6 rather than if I had have brought the tickets from the cinema website directly. But for the time and hassle it took, it was most definitely not worth it! I would rather have paid an extra £6 to just get it over with. When I asked why they do not give refunds I was put on hold for an answer, only for them to return saying they have no explanation as to why I could not have my money back.
