Something needs to change!
I’ve been a member at this branch in Openshaw since it opened and have seen the deterioration in the whole place. 1. People not being approached for speaking on their phones whilst on the treadmills etc. 2. Clothing and other items strewn about the changing room. 3. Toilet in disrepair and left for too long in that condition. 4. Faulty taps in toilet area which have been a problem for over 5 years! 5. Lack of interest shown by staff concerning members not practising safe hygiene. 6. Members banging weights and generally making a lot of unnecessary noise with the weight machines. 7. There’s at least 2 lockers that have small padlocks on them 24/7 and for over 8 months without them ever being checked. There could be dangerous items in them, yet nothing has been done to open them and make them ( and others ) safe. Generally the rules are being totally ignored by certain members. This should be addressed by senior staff. Maybe advice notices could be put up telling members to behave responsibly etc. There’s a lot of good people coming here daily and I feel that some of them will quit completely due to these low standards. Finally, things weren’t like this when it first opened so what’s going wrong here? The staff are very approachable and friendly and may need to be supported more in order to return things back to how things were originally.

My experience at the gym.
This is my second week at the gym, and my experience is 2nd to none. I have had quite a few classes with Alex and I find him such a lovely pleasant guy. Nothing is too much trouble for him.. I have also spoken to Kieron and asked if he could put a step class on a different time? As I can't make the lunchtime. Kieron assures me that he will do that in July. I think the team are excellent. I am so impressed. I have been to most gyms in this area and I find the staff here can't do enough for you and are so professional. The one thing I do like about the staff, and the members actually is they are so welcoming and chat to you and make you feel at ease. Kind regards, Tracey. 😀
Access for new disabled members
I have recently rejoined the gym group. I went to the gym yesterday but was unable to gain access with my passcode. I tried again today and was still unable to enter.
I rang the gym group and was informed by a nice and friendly member of staff that the membership had gone through but as a disabled member that I would need an induction. Makes sense. I informed them that I was a member previously but I still needed an induction.
I asked when the induction would be as I’m now paying for a membership that I am unable to use. The advice given was to contact the gym directly via social media.
I really didn’t want to have to open an instagram account to contact the gym. I was then advised to go back to the gym and speak to someone there but I couldn’t see a member of staff and I couldn’t get inside so left.
I rang back the gym group and the helpful member of staff has said to sit and wait for them to contact me and if I haven’t heard back from them then cancel my membership in the cooling off period.
The trouble is that this happened before when
I signed up the gym group the first time and it was really frustrating then and I see nothing has changed. If it was clearer in the sign up process that there would be a delay for disabled members I wouldn’t have had the inconvenience of visiting the gym multiple times.
That being said the gym itself is really good. I wouldn’t be rejoining otherwise.
