Good but needs improvement

This is a good app but please change one of your features!! My GP practice closes Dr IQ consultations every day at around 1pm, and closes them all weekend... that’s ok, but the problem is that your app is also not allowing me to see urgent notifications on the app after those times either! And I have to wait until the next day, or if it’s a Friday.. have to wait until Monday! Sometimes if I submit a consultation at 12, and the practice only replies at 4pm or something.. I can’t see the notification! It just tells me it’s closed and I have to try again at 7am the next day. Please do something about this! At least please allow us to view notifications at all and any times! Some of the notifications are really important re medication requests, doctor visits etc.

Gatekeeping, unhelpful and rude staff

It’s hard to view this app as anything other than to keep patients from going to see a doctor. Patients are gaslighted into thinking they’re probably overreacting and instead prescribed medication via a phone consultation rather than having an appointment with a GP. On my first call I was prescribed medication that was delivered to a pharmacy that’s not even near where I live. The second call was with an overworked and impatient person who started the call by listing the reasons why I wouldn’t get a referral anyway, tried to diagnose me via phone and prescribe other medication. I insisted to be put through to arrange an appointment with my GP practice, which was agreed to only reluctantly. I still haven’t heard back. This was last month. The NHS is overburdened and underfunded, I shouldn’t feel guilty for wanting to see a doctor when I have serious health concerns. This culture of stopping people from going to see a doctor leads to more and more people ignoring symptoms and illnesses being discovered potentially too late. I will be searching for a GP practice that doesn’t use dr IQ, as I felt unsafe discussing my health with an unfriendly stranger on the phone who made me feel like a burden. No one should be made to feel that way when they reach out to see a doctor.

Not good enough in this Pandemic Climate.

My surgery has been very clear that they want all patients to use this app during the Covid-19 pandemic. In principle, I agree that technology should be used to reduce pressure on our nhs primary care services. The issue here is that this app is unable to fulfil some basic functions. For me, it is re-ordering prescriptions. I was told that upon registration and approval from my surgery, my prescription history would be pulled through to the app. This was not the case. This means that I still had to call the surgery to order the prescription. To make matters worse, I’ve been told the I will have to email the surgery from hereon in for my re-order. The surgery is aware of this issue, is unable to resolve it, but is still asking for patients to register. This makes the app obsolete. Clearly, the technology here is not communicating with the host surgery. This just isn’t good enough, especially in the current climate, where social isolation is mandatory and GP visits are actively discouraged. This issue really needs to be resolved. The app should be withdrawn, debugged and only reintroduced when this (and all the other issues raised in reviews) are sufficiently resolved.
