Poor app fixed by booking on the internet via laptop

I don’t normally write reviews but I think it is fair when informing people who will be using this app.When booking swimming for example it will constantly say an error has occurred with card payment. There are two different ways to do this either on the main page “book a swim” which will give you the same issue with your credit card but insists you have reserved a space and therefore are unable to checkout again to book it and insists you can only book one session a day. The other method is to click on “view your profile” and make a booking this way (which also declines your card details and informs you have no bookings). I suspect that this app is running two different platforms that don’t communicate with each other.If this helps anyone with the same issue I managed to make a booking via their website on my laptop with no issues. Therefore the only reason to keep the app is to show proof of purchase if asked at the leisure centre. I have this app 2 stars because at least it let me register :).

This is this most unintuitive app I have ever had the misfortune to encounter. 'Better' push you towards the app to book a session but booking a session is a veritable nightmare. It is very difficult to agree to the T&C's as the 'okay' button is unavailable, and yet you can't go ahead with the booking without it. Same applies to the next screen. The payment screen freezes regularly when trying to pay. Added to that, once you finally manage to book something, and have had the confirmation email, the booking doesn't appear on the 'upcoming bookings' in the app so you are unable to amend the booking if you need to. And even before all that, the whole app is clunky and difficult to navigate. Really bad show for a product which actually costs a substantial amount of money, whichever way you look at it. 'Better' invest some of your income on hiring a decent app designer. I'm sure this app would have put many people off going through with bookings and membership because of its impracticality.It doesn't store your details so there's no auto fill option. You have to input your details, email address (twice!) etc each time. You also have to input your card details every time when booking as there is no 'remember card' option and it doesn't let you use Apple Pay or PayPal. I'm this day and age, Better really does need to do much better!
The gym is awful

I don’t know if this goes for every gym but it definitely does for the one I went to: the staff each have their own rules for the under 16s with some not letting you use any weights and others letting you use all of them, you are only aloud in for one hour at a time and it is such a stupid rule which essentially doesn’t allow you to get your moneys worth, I would like to add that the app is sooo slow, the staff are rude(not all of them)I went to ask I would be charged for not showing up to your sessions and the only response I received was “you’re early for your session you can’t come in” I said that I know but I just want to know if I would get charged to which I received the exact same response as before. And of course the overall thing which made me switch gyms was that when you book you have to “confirm purchase” about two times and if you forget to do this then you will be sent straight back home after walking half an hour to the gym. I have no idea why this is a feature as everyone just sneaks into the gym anyways and every other gym doesn’t do it. Ultimately pick another gym and not this one( my experience may be very different to other peoples gyms but this was just my experience)
Abysmal app - only use it as there is no other option

I rarely write app reviews but feel so insensed at how difficult it is to book and pay for a swimming session for my children by card (despite me being a member) that I felt I had to share my view. This app was terrible and infuriating two years ago and many updates later, the user experience is still appalling. This evening I have tried to book a swimming session for myself and my two children via the app and it has so far taken 5 attempts where I have had to try three different cards and re enter my details multiple times. The app hung on the payment page 4 of these times. I don’t know who the developers are but they seem to lack basic software development skills and the ability to follow any kind of user experience basics or use any of the off the shelf packages that should make such an app able to perform the basic task of booking sessions straightforward. Is this app even tested before being released (by people who are not the developers)? Such a shame to put so many barriers in the way for people aiming to use the Better facilities when trying to book in advance.
