With its combination of literary discoveries, incisive criticism, essays, poems and debate, the TLS is for anyone with an interest in the world of culture and ideas. In addition, you will find an easy search function, the weekly TLS podcast and full access to years of back issues. From fiction to philosophy, religion to politics, social studies to film: TLS readers can decipher, discuss and delve into it all.

The TLS app is free to download and you can access the contents in the following ways:

1) If you subscribe to the TLS, simply log in by using your surname and your subscriber number.

2) You can buy individual issues for £2.99 or an auto-renewing subscription at £7.99pm from the iTunes store.

Subscription renews unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of your current period, otherwise the account will be charged as normal. You can manage your subscription and turn off auto-renewal by going to Account Settings.

Always something!

From the brief notes through the reviews and on to the longer informative articles, not to mention the back page and finishing with the sometimes inscrutable crossword the TLS never fails to fulfil its promise of an exhilarating read. Thank you very much.

Very good...

It's just a shame that (1) the app pesters incessantly for an app-store review, which I didn't want to give so soon after downloading and (2) there is a "loading wheel" permanently in the middle of the screen on the iPad app when reading (a spoked one, composed of fat lines radiating from a central point, pulsing in a circular motion).

UPDATE: the trick with the circular whatnot (which appears on iPhone as well) is that it only appears on articles accessed directly from the article menu. So click on the article before and swipe to the one you want.

Functionality destroyed by an unwelcome update

The app. used to be splendid, but it is now impossible to share articles, moreover members of the help team appear to have buried their heads in the sand. Extremely disappointing! A lamentable and retrograde "development".

Since writing the above, I have renewed my subscription, but no improvement has been made. The app does not function well with iOS, since the share function fails every time to produce a link, url etc., rendering sharing impossible. Customer Services refuse to acknowledge that this is the case.
