A few things you can do on Threads…
■ Access your Instagram followers
Your Instagram username and verification badge are reserved for you. Automatically follow the same accounts you follow on Instagram in a few taps, and discover new accounts too.
■ Share your point of view
Spin up a new thread to express what's on your mind. This is your space to be yourself, and you control who can reply.
■ Connect with friends and your favorite creators
Jump to the replies to get in on the action and react to commentary, humor and insight from the creators you know and love. Find your community and connect with people who care about whatever it is you’re interested in.
■ Control the conversation
Customize your settings and use controls to manage who can see your content, reply to your threads, or mention you. Accounts you’ve blocked will carry over from Instagram, and we’re enforcing the same Community Guidelines to help ensure everyone interacts safely and authentically.
■ Find ideas and inspiration
From TV recommendations to career advice, get answers to your questions or learn something new from crowd-sourced conversations, thought leaders and industry experts.
■ Never miss a moment
Stay on top of the latest trends and live events. Whether it’s about new music, movie premieres, sports, games, TV shows, fashion, or the latest product releases, find discussions and receive notifications any time your favorite profiles start a new thread.

Quickly implementing improvement
Threads has come a long way since launch. It now us a following feed, the ability to edit a thread for 5 minutes after posting, you can post polls and it’s easier to Thread with gifs. You can even tag people in a Thread who haven’t signed up yet, but have an Instagram account.
They seem to be doing a lot of work to catch up with the competition and constantly keep everyone posted on new features they’re testing. I appreciate the work they’re putting in!
Threads will be perfect for me if/when they introduce a list feature or some way to separate close friends/people you like to follow closely in a separate feed.
Needs a few more features to be usable but has promise.
Really like the clean design, lack of apps, and ease of finding new people to follow.
What would make it the perfect app is: a following only feed, similar to what it on Instagram, or even the option to mute suggested posts such as on Instagram; a “likes” column on my profile and the ability to make this visible or hide it, currently I can’t see anywhere to view posts you’ve liked; being over Instagram DMs to threads and integrate them; allow search for terms not just profiles; a trending topics page would be useful; ability to click into a profile picture to enlarge it; something similar to “close friends” for sharing; more visual customisation of the profile page like a header image or colour choice- it’s a bit plain atm.
There’s probably a few more things but I’m liking the direction so far!
A chance to begin again
I see a lot of people moaning that this isn’t Twitter (X) and that’s just the point, it’s not. It’s an early release of a social platform with a lot of potential. It’s a place that has the ability to generate a lot of interesting interactions between people who would usually disappear into a void on Twitter (X) it needs some tweaks, but to just want it to replicate another app is not really the point.
I’d love to see more accessibility work done, but it takes time, and this puts the effort into the user, it’s up to the user to be interesting, engaging and entertaining, and that’s where many fall short, just wanting instant feedback and gratification.
