Very disappointing relaunch

Been using the new Transport for Wales app since instructed to do so by the old app and I’m unsure if all the bugs have been sorted out, but this one seems much worse for a multitude of reasons.

Looking up live train times is more hit than miss as sometimes it says no trains will be running on routes when the trains are in fact running on time.
Also booking tickets and looking at train times for later in the week or booking tickets in advance because of this is simply not possible at this stage.

I will likely change my rating when things improve, but as it stands right now, it is a much worse version of the previous one.

That doesn't sound right! You can contact us on 0333 321 1202 so that we can investigate this for you.

App didn’t find trains for me at first but second third attempts works fine

Can I ask if you guys are moving into e-tickets in the future?

I think with numerous covid outbreaks not everyone enjoys the public touch screen option at the moment. Personally I’d find an e-ticket so much more convenient. Being able to book from home and just walk onto the train without having to cross over a bridge twice to collect the paper tickets would be great…

I travel from Bache to Chester return journey 3 times a week. Today I searched for ticket information and the app reported no trains available. Obviously we know there are trains running regularly. It is possible it’s a case of’operator error’ as I have now been able to book my tickets and the app works fine. Just thought I’d let you know. A question please-will the app notify if trains aren’t running for some reason? So we can know etc. Thank you and good luck with the app.

Thank you for updating your review. We sell eTickets on all of our routes, and understand how much easier they are. Sadly, we are restricted as to what we can retail on routes that we do not operate.

Awful

The old app wasn’t great. But it was functional.

This app is ugly. The colours the design. Dated. 80s. It screams don’t use me. Which is probably true given it’s a terrible app to use.

This app doesn’t save any searches. Even for a minute. If you switch apps and switch back the app is blank.

The live updates and disruption alerts don’t seem to be live. Loads of app features, like capacity checker just boot you out of the app and onto the website, making you wonder why the app exists. There’s no integration here; you can search live times but you can’t see the capacity - for this you have to do the search all over again using capacity checker. Pointless.

The live times section sometimes says there are no departures found, even when there are and the app is incapable of telling you when there’s a replacement bus service.

The new payment system doesn’t let you auto renew/add a season ticket that auto starts on the day yours expires.

Unfortunately I have to use this app for ticket purchases. However I’m using another rail app for all other functionality as this one just doesn’t work.

It’s a shame as they could make an app that’s better than the others, a widget to get tickets up without having to open the app, an Apple Watch app like National rail has, save searches, a Home Screen dedicated to your journeys etc. but this app can’t even get the basics right.
