“Improved” app not quite as good as the previous version!

This app is still my go-to but the latest upgrade has removed one useful feature: if you’re booking a ticket which needs to be collected the reference number is now buried in small print under booking details- it used to be much larger and on the first view of the booking: this makes it much harder for those with poor vision to see when picking up the ticket: instead you have to rummage around for the email, where the booking ref is nice & bold- but that then negates the value of keeping everything in the app
TLDR: 5 stars to 1 star with loss of live times

This was my preferred app for train info & tickets for years. Easy to use, accurate, I recommended to everyone: a true 5 star app….However, the recent update that ‘lost’ the live times option has drastically changed my opinion: without live train information it is no longer fit for purpose. To add insult to injury, the app info in the App Store still claims that you have access to live train times and ‘real time’ travel information, when you now palpably don’t!For fans of the older version all is not lost, as at the time of writing this, the Northern Rail app still has the live times function and looks & feels similar to the old version of this app. I used it this weekend and it was a painless experience: the live information available meant I was able to plan ‘on the fly’ when power supply issues affected my route.
Update is a clunky downgrade

Short version:The app is clunky, I was unable to access my bookings mid-journey or buy new tickets for my journey and the UI is unintuitive, convoluted and far less appealing on the eye. Long version:Unfortunately I had to update to the app before I could access my tickets yesterday. Once logged in, my tickets were nowhere to be found and the “bookings” section displayed an error message repeatedly. I then had to go into my emails to find my ticket. This morning, I went to book my usual open return ticket for the day but there was no quick option to select this ticket type. Instead, you must open the calendar for a return journey and select open return at the top. After that, the app repeatedly said there were no tickets available for my particular journey, despite purchasing the same journey tickets on the old app every weekday for years. A final note for an improvement to the UI is that when on different parts of the app, you can’t see the tabs bar at the bottom, meaning you have to tap the back button at the top, instead of quickly tapping at the bottom. I have now switched back to the Trainline app.
Major update – major problems with the app.

Up to now this has always been our go-to app for booking train tickets. But the recent update has brought significant difficulty, where all too often it gives the message “no journeys found“, when there are lots of journeys available. It’s also really unhelpful that when booking a return ticket the prices seen initially are for each leg of the journey.I still have a little residual loyalty, but it is quickly being eroded – and there are _plenty_ more train ticket apps out there.
In this release, we have made essential bug fixes and performance improvements.
