The official Tyne and Wear Metro app makes it easier for you to get around Tyne and Wear by Metro. As well as incorporating official timetable and connection information, the app pulls live data direct from Tyne and Wear Metro Control, giving you live updates on the service and travel advice during periods of disruption.

It’s improving......

With the last update it has improved, but still has a long way to go.

• Pop Card integration needed to see balance, top up, digital Pop Card and travel using the app just like you can with Suica Card in Japan.

• Ticket purchasing through the app and have a digital ticket.

• Needs a specific time input allowed for a journey and not have to keep advancing throughout the day.

• Live data needs to be made use of so you can have much better journey planning and when the next one is arriving.

• Customer Service NEEDS to improve as you would think you have disturbed them in the pub when they reply.

It’s all very well requesting these incredibly useful and needed features, but it all seems like it’s run on a shoe string and with the appalling reliability of late were lucky any service arrives at all! ☹️🤭It is certainly cringe worthy to think of tourists who visit from a first world country and then step back to 1980 that Tyne & Wear Metro seem to be stuck in! Perhaps the whole thing needs placing in Besmish?!? 🤭🤣

Update/fix required

This app worked really well. However lately it shows that there are no connections on the planner or the timetable. Have tried several different stations, but the one I need to be able to see Monkseaton. Can this be fixed please.

Latest update causes major issues

The main issue is that it is no longer possible to see all of a service status if the text is longer than the box because you cant scroll.

Also separating departures out into destinations is pointless, the previous system of next 3 trains was better because we currently have too many destinations when you include peak shorts etc and the next train information is hard to find as it doesn't fit on the screen.

Finally the issue is that this app is only providing the timetable info because, unlike any other uk rail service, metro don’t release their real time data to the public so you are better off wearing a blindfold and rolling the dice when you get to the metro than using this app.

Because the next train data based on the timetable is so useless (less than 70% of services run to timetable) it is important that you make sure that the service status (which is updated real time) is easy to view and this app needs to be updated to reflect that.
