Does the job but needs better UX
I initially found their website first and manually typed in all the ISBN’s before realising they had an app that could just scan the barcode, I noticed I was quoted slightly less for the same books via the app compared to the website.
I was caught out by needing to print my own shipping label, I stupidly selected the next day for collection but soon realised I wasn’t able to print the label so opted for a shipping label to be sent in the post and changed it from Collection to Drop Off. I made a wrong assumption that in doing so it would cancel my Collection but they said once a Collection has been booked it cannot be cancelled.
The shipping label arrived about a week later and I dropped it off. Returning the books took weeks but I’m putting that down to COVID.
Feedback on the app:
- would be nice to see what day you choose for Collection and a nice to have would be push notifications reminding you on the day
- would be nice to have clearer wording that a printer is needed to print a shipping label and if the user opts for one to be sent to them then perhaps a warning that it may take up to a week for it to arrive and to book your Collection for a later date to take that into consideration, so we don’t waste the couriers time telling them the parcel isn’t ready for Collection yet.
I think the concept is great it just needs further user testing!
A few items that stopped a 5* review. You really have to have all you books ready because when scanning because if you leave them on and wait for more book the books you have submitted may be removed as they are no longer ones they can sell onwards. The app sometimes puts the same book down twice so watch for that, just simple things but can be frustrating. The biggest issue was the taking the books to the collection point. Our local one refused to take the box saying it was too heavy without even weighing it! We took it to another shop some 5 miles away and they took it no question, perhaps the company can speak to the shop owner or the collection service to find out what is really going on.
Easy to use
I think maybe the app has been updated since some of the previous reviews as I found it easy to use and could simply delete some of the books I’d scanned if I changed my mind (just swipe left on the item and the delete option appears). I didn’t expect my books to be valued particularly high but was pleasantly surprised by some. I’m just grateful to have a tool that allows me to declutter while also earning some extra pennies. I also like that you can arrange for a courier to come and collect. I’ve left off one star because I haven’t yet figured out how to print off my labels... the app seemed more keen to get a review from me than to complete my transaction! 🙃
