Having researched the differences between the various systems we plumped for WebEx for its security, but were expecting to have to accept giving up some visual quality for this increased security. We run confidential panels and meetings regarding assessing and approving Fostering families and then discussing the extremely vulnerable Chidlren placed with them and their challenging backgrounds. Security is an absolute paramount consideration as we are discussing probably the most delicate of all subjects. When we connected Webex all up, people had dowloaded the app and used headphones and checked the security of their environment, we were all quite impressed with the quality and simplicity of use. We have found it easier to use than Zoom which we still use for non-secure conversations (e.g. with family) as some folks are still more familiar with them. No, overall, we have been pleasently surprised at the quality and ease of use - in fact a member of staff has found that zoom wouldn’t allow her microphone to work and she had terrible problems setting up the rest of it, but she just logged in to Webex and ‘zoom’ off she went with it!So ‘well done’ CISCO, job done!
Covid and conference calls

Great app! My university classes have been shut down and moved to online learning due to COVID-19 (as I’m sure many others have). Just finished a class with my professor and about 30 other students through this app and it worked brilliantly. After downloading the app I clicked the link she sent via email and it took me straight into the call after I typed in my name and uni email address. The call was very laggy at first because everyone had their cams and mics on, so we ended up muting individual audio feeds and cancelling video connections until it was only the prof who was visible/audible. She got the PowerPoint up on screen and went through the slides. Whenever someone wanted to chip in, we asked on the group chat and she gave permission; then the individual would turn their mic on just for their contribution then turn it off again. Very good way of teaching/learning for those of us stopped from physically attending classes! I think my only issue with it was the lagging and sometimes jumpy nature of sound when the prof was speaking, however I think that this occurs in basically any and every video call app out there, so it didn't bother me too much. Next week is the start of group presentations on critical case studies and my prof is devising a way of being able to do it through Webex. I think she will make one of the group members a co-host, then have the other group members keep their cams and mics on. The case study PowerPoint will likely be used and then the group can talk through it as they had planned. Hopefully it will work!
Critical application at the moment - but it’s terrible!

Obviously given the situation (currently working from home during the UK’s COVID-19 lockdown) this is a critical application for me and my colleagues to get things done using our companies’ virtual/remote communication platform of choice. The problem is that on my device (iPhone XS Max up to date using iOS 13.4.1) every time I log-in to WebEx, I get an error regarding recordings and then when I try to open or join a meeting, it doesn’t connect. I have to delete the app, re-install it, re-login using my companies details and then it’ll connect. If I use it for the rest of the day, it’ll work fine with all my calls and meetings. Try and use it the following day and so have to go through the delete and re-install process. I do app updates and software updates promptly but this app is truly terrible. This has been going on for over 6 months but it’s only getting to the point of being a useless application now in this lockdown period. So, I’m having to revert to Webex on my laptop (which is perfect every time) but slightly inconvenient because I have to be attached to my laptop constantly to both see and speak to my colleagues.
Room for improvement

So I am a student who has to do many online lectures each day and WebEx is my universities platform of choice. I think its very useful and performs very well on my iPad Pro. My biggest issue with it is that when opening the chat box, it is not movable around the screen meaning that i constantly find myself having to close the chat box to remind myself of something shown on a slide when typing long messages. and having to click multiple times to get back there is becoming tedious. I feel like there should be a left or right hand tool bar dedicated to the chat options, which when clicked on opens a movable dialogue box, or even better one that can be minimised. I imagine this is possible and think it would be a great update to roll out.
