Masterclass to discovering the truth
I have been trying to lose weight on and off for years, as soon as I hit my 40s I could gain weight just by looking at a cake. But would need to starve myself and work out to lose a pound (well that’s what it felt like). I joined slimming world and lost a stone and a half but I could never keep it off. I could never understand how I could eat 10 bananas for free but yet if I blended one in a smoothie I had to syn it. My hormones were playing havoc with perimenopause and as soon as I’m stressed or emotional the food is eaten and the drink is drunk.
I saw the masterclass being advertised and thought why not give it a go! I had done Turtle challenges before and I liked the ethics of the group, so I started, tracking my food, listening to the podcasts and hearing the truth about why I do what I do. No shaming no feeling shame and nothing is banned - it’s just understanding how it fits into my day and my week. I have learnt a lot in the past two weeks and even joined a radio chat (did not realise I had put myself forward to speak but hey). I have thoroughly enjoyed the past two weeks and I am learning a lot about myself. I have joined up for the lifetime offer as I really believe this will help me keep my weight down by understanding how my body works.

I love this app, I came across it by accident and signed up to the free 14 day masterclass, it really helped my mindset more than anything, helped me to get back into my old healthy habits and create new ones. It was done steadily over the 14 days and nothing felt overwhelming at all! You can also track stuff like your menstrual cycle etc. all in one place instead of separate apps for everything. It works really well and I really enjoy using it!
I also lost 10lbs over the 14 days without starving myself or completely depriving myself. I’ve actually managed to change my relationship with food in this short period and get out of the rut of yo-yo dieting I’ve been doing for the past 2 years. I feel like the penny’s dropped and it makes sense. There is so much support that comes with this app too! Local WhatsApp groups, Facebook groups, podcasts, challenges, Turtle Radio! Scott Flear is brilliant, it’s a whole community of Turtles! 🐢
Had potential, the impersonal support ruined it
The app is decent enough, a few small things that are annoying and make it a bit of a challenge to switch from other apps. These were small things like serving sizes to select being limited, the interface having to click through a number of options before adding food ie, click into breakfast >search food > click food > select amount (often only grams rather than a range of options or suggestions like small banana 3inch) > click add > click back to meal.
The biggest turn off for me was when I went to add a custom recipe, it was not clear how to see up the serving sizes in relation to the ingredients and number roc servings in the recipe. I thought I would reach out to the support team and was really disappointed in their impersonal and unhelpful response. I was repeatedly directed to help videos that required a login to view and no use of my name or sign off including a name.
I could forgive the app needing some more time to iron out the user interface, but the customer service made me feel like I was being an inconvenience, considering you are paying a monthly fee I would have expected a more friendly approach. Ultimately the unfriendly service has left me returning to a free service that offers better support and a much better customer service.
