I couldn’t be without Alice and this app!
I’ve followed Alice for many years and started working out with her when the lockdowns started. I loved the workouts and her relaxed, supportive style felt she was just doing coaching 1:1 with me.
Then when she launched the app it meant I could continue with her challenges but have even more flexibility to when I did the workouts but alongside that I’ve gained so much more! You also don’t need loads of equipment, a chair and some weights to suit you.
Her challenges each month build up over the weeks and varied each month but importantly she adapts the exercises to all levels of fitness. Alice never ever makes you feel like you can’t achieve the challenge and that is why I’ve stuck with the challenges and Alice. It not only makes me stronger but I feel better mentally and I just feel confident to give new exercises a try as there is never any pressure or judgement, Alice gives encouragement in abundance and I love that!
There are home workouts, gym programmes and a wealth of resources and fantastic recipes.
There is a free trial too, so I’d urge you to give it a go. If you want to have one of the best PT’s coach you, support you, laugh along with, get stronger, feel happier then I’d urge you to give this app a go.
The only exercise I have ever stayed consistent with
There’s just something special about Alice and her format. I have now kept up with her monthly challenges for 18 months and like so many of other app users I feel stronger, happier and more confident. She has made exercise a regular part of my week, and it’s something I genuinely look forward to as I can see genuine results from it - both physically and mentally/emotionally.
She’s so inclusive of abilities, she keeps things fun, it’s challenging but not to the point where you dread each workout because they’re so horrible 😂. She just gets what works. Please - if you’re looking for strength training sessions with an element of hiit/met con, that will guide you through each movement and challenge you to increase them each week, getting stronger and feeling great, with a great playlist, and a trainer that is truly a ray of sunshine every day - give the app a go and see if it works for you. It probably will!
Not beginner friendly
Firstly I’ve followed Alice for a while and love her content and ethos so this is no way a dig at her personally, but I was a bit disappointed by the app as it’s not really aimed at a beginner level, nor does it support beginners enough. For example, day one of the beginner gym programme includes ‘hanging scapular retractions’ and exercises using the cable machine. There is no video or help showing you how to set up the machines or guidance on getting into the right position etc. I think it’s worth considering for a compete beginner, walking into a busy gym and using these sort of machines / doing these movements is incredibly daunting and definitely not something to do on day 1.
I was expecting to master the basic compound movements first and then greater guidance on how to use a cable machine or how to do a hanging scapular retraction or how/where to setup a resistance band for a ‘Pallof Press’. Sadly these exercises were not aimed at a beginner level.
I also tried changing from gym to home workouts in the settings to see if it would be a bit simpler, but the app wouldn’t refresh and kept showing me gym workouts (even after saving my setting changes) so this was quite disappointing.
The app also seems quite basic for the price paid and for me there was nowhere near the level of support and guidance for a beginner for that price.
