Editors’ Notes
Sending money to friends and family in other countries can be a pricey proposition, unless you can find a way to avoid the unfavourable currency exchange rates set by banks. TransferWise uses the standard exchange rate—not your bank’s—when you wire money abroad. It’s remarkably streamlined and easy to use, especially for frequent transfers, and it’ll save you plenty of dollars, pounds, euros, zloty…whatever money means to you.
So far the best banking app for multi currencies!
Wise is the best banking service for single and or multi currencies with physical and virtual card. Instant transfers, instant conversion between account currency, and the rest.
The transfer fee is relatively low. The only negative that I can say is the currency exchange rate to sell back currency is not good. But you still can get it in a few click and seconds in the wise account or transferred into your bank account.
I cannot appraise the virtual card option enough! I was hacked 4 times in the past 2 years after using my other cards for online purchases.
Wise has the option for a new virtual card that has lots of extra security features. You can delete it than generate a new one with a complete new set of numbers in a second. You can copy card details, account details from screen in the app then paste the info into an other website. … I highly recommend it! Made my travelling and spending my with card much easier and safer! Oh and my favourite feature is I can have one card for all currencies, I can withdraw in the country and abroad. The card detect the currency and it deduct the transaction from the matching currency account! How good is that?! Brilliant! 🙌
Account closed as soon as I sent a larger sum of money
I’ve only used Wise for about and month and my account has been deactivated without any reason for why. I was going to use Wise to exchange my GBP into EUR as I’m moving from the UK to Europe next month for university so I need EUR to fund uni and for spending while I’m living there. I sent just under £3000 from my bank to Wise to carry out the exchange but they did not accept the money for around 2 days (running security checks I believe which is normal), usually a transfer takes seconds so I assume it’s because I sent a larger sum of money. I contacted customer support and they said no money had come through, yet my bank claimed the money was accepted so I’m not sure how neither of them can not have my money. Anyway, the following day when I woke up to check if the money had come through, I’m slapped in the face with ‘account deactivated’. I’m then offered an appeal option so I can either provide evidence for why I’m not some scam artist or thief but just a student looking to send large sums of his hard earned money into his new homeland, however this appeal link did not work. They decided to indefinitely close my account without considering my appeal. Fortunately I didn’t have any money in my wise account so there’s no trouble there, and my £3000 transfer did turn up back in my original bank so Wise clearly had it. I’m just disappointed I wasn’t able to use Wise as it would greatly help me in the near future.
